Today: Lezak Cops to Blown Cast, KC to Pass Des Moines & School’s Out

Gary Lezak is 100 percent right, 100 percent of the time…

Now that we’ve got the bold face lying portion of this story out of the way, let’s revisit Lezak’s prediction that KC would only get maybe 13 inches of snow all winter.

"What you should say is that these two weeks are not going to count in my winter forecast," Lezak quips. "From January 11th to the 24th, we’re not going to count. Because we had 2.9 inches of snow before January 11th and at the end of this storm – we’re probably going to get 3 or 4 more inches. – it should dry out and then maybe we’ll get one or two more snows in February or March."

Trouble is, "We’ve gotten 14 inches in the last week and a half," Lezak says. "And we’re probably going to get 3 or 4 more inches. But then late next week we’ll have one or two days where it warms up – possibly close to 50 degrees, which is nice – then we’re going to get another arctic blast."

All that said, this winter still won’t come close to last year’s 43 inches.

Here’s where Lezak’s forecast for this year took a wrong turn:

"I obviously did not expect this but I can see where this pattern occured," Lezak says. "This is a very weird year. We’re about to pass Des Moines, Iowa, which is a very difficult thing to do. We’re at 17 inches and Des Moines is at 20 inches and they’re going to miss this storm."

A funny thing happened to the G Man earlier this week.

"On Monday I said on the air, ‘Hey kids – you will have a snow day on Thursday’ – because I was very confident and positive. And then all the schools started getting these phone calls from parents and students asking if they were going to get a snow day. And the schools weren’t prepared for that. I mean, I’ve never had that happen before."

With Fuzzy Math that Lezak uses ….
… he should run for Congress. He’d make a great congressman.

The weather is at best, a 24 hour, guess. To predicate a snowfall months in advance is ridiculous. All the weather- talking heads are just setting themselves up for failure. That’s why their ALL clowns and the weather segment of the nightly news is the goofiest time on TV.
