New Jack City: Deck The Halls with Popcorn and 10 Holiday Hits!

It’s the annual In-Between Week at the movies…

The weekend after the Thanksgiving releases and the weekend before the Christmas rollout of new movies which gets underway next weekend.

Here then are Hollywood’s 10 major Christmas offerings and opening dates at Greater Kansas City’s MegaPlexes:

It all kicks-off next Friday, December 10th with the Italian set thriller THE TOURIST co-starring ueber-stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Also next weekend, the third installment in the CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series—this time THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER.

In two weeks, on December 17th, Mark Wahlberg stars as Irish Mickey Ward in the testosterone-fueled boxing drama THE FIGHTER with Amy Adams. But it’s Christian Bale as Wahlberg’s brother who’ll most likely pick up an Oscar nomination here!

Also on the 17th, director James L. Brook’s new romantic comedy HOW DO YOU KNOW starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson opens.

For the kids there’s the CGI-laden YOGI BEAR voiced by Dan Aykroyd.

Natalie Portman delivers an Oscar-worthy performance in BLACK SWAN. Talk about hotties here, Mila Kunis co-stars.

And TRON: LEGACY, the visually high-tech sequel to Disney’s 1982 sci-fi adventure premieres as the son is now reunited with his long lost father, Jeff Bridges.

This year’s final three Christmas releases all open here on Wednesday, December 22nd.

They include the Coen Brothers remake of director Henry Hathaway’s 1969 hit TRUE GRIT—this time with Jeff Bridges as ‘Rooster Cogburn,’  the role which won John Wayne his Oscar. Matt Damon and Josh Brolin co-star.

Also on the 22nd, Jack Black finds himself stranded on the island of Lilliput in GULLIVER’S TRAVELS co-starring Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly.

And Ben Stiller still struggles for respect from his ex-C.I.A. father-in-law Robert DeNiro in the latest edition of Universal’s hugely popular MEET THE PARENTS franchise called MEET THE FOCKERS. The mega-cast is rounded out by Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman, Owen Wilson, Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, Harvey Keitel and Barbra Streisand.

    My cousin saw the final edits of HOW DO YOU KNOW with jack
    and paul rudd. Said this is one of the best movies of the year….
    can’t wait….paul rudd finally hits paydirt…and jack is incredible.
