Glazer: Humble Scribe Looks to Difficult Path Ahead for Chiefs

So if you are a faithful fan – and I know you are – you’ve done the math regarding the Chiefs and the playoffs…

As you can see, more then likely our Kansas City Chiefs will have to beat San Diego next Sunday to win the West.

More shocking, not only would a loss likely cost the Chiefs the division but also a wild card spot.

And if everything goes the way it looks, KC will be the odd team out. Either the Jets or New England at 9-2 will win the East and the runner up will be a wild card ( with probably at least 11 plus wins), so we can’t get a spot there.

Baltimore and the Steelers are both 8-3. And the one who wins the division is also likely to win at least 11 games. And remember, they have five games left just like we do.  So the wild card team there also will have a better record than KC with 11 wins.

That leaves the Colts and well, the Colts, who are 6-5.

They will probably win their division at 9-7 or 10-6. Either way the division winners record does not matter regarding the wild card spot. So we are out there too.

Yep, the Chiefs either win out or lose to someone other then the Chargers.

We have to beat the Chargers or get help from another team beating them while we win all our other games.

The thinking is, we could tie another wild card team like the Steelers and maybe win the wild card spot on other issues. That remains unclear. We did this with the Herm Edwards team a few years back with a 9-7 record.

It’s called "backing in."

We went out in the first round to the Colts.

It’s a numbers game. However the odd thing is a few weeks back it looked like 9-7 or 10-6 would get it done in our division.

Then the Chargers came rolling all over everyone.

In fact some consider them the best team in the AFC at this time. Yes, we have the one game lead but as you can see if they beat us and we tie, the first tie breaker after head-to-head is division record and theirs would be better.

Its been a strange year. Nobody seems to be dominant for very long. It was the Giants, then the Jets, then the Eagles, now the Chargers. Ever changing.

The other fly in the ointment is the fact the Chiefs have to go on the road to St. Louis.

This is a very good team and one that’s getting better weekly. It is very possible they could beat the Chiefs. The Chargers really have no tough games, at least on paper. Other then KC at home. But anything can happen.

Todd Haley and Scott Piolli have given us our hopes and dreams back.

In two short years, they’ve taken one of the worst NFL programs and made it proud again. Even if we don’t make the playoffs, the future is bright. The Chiefs have stars again, loud fans again and the thought of a future Superbowl. With this management running the show, it looks possible. Maybe even likely in the next couple of years. Thank you Clark Hunt, Scott Piolli, Todd Haley and staff.

Happy holidays, you gave us a nice gift.

Does no one remember KC got whipped like a rented mule not that long ago?

Kerouac…for your Christmas present I’m going to bid on Al Davis’s stinky jogging suit and FedEx it to you after the Chiefs beat the Chargers. San Diego REALLY? What have those fuckers ever won? Just add them to the list of NFL teams never to have won a Super Bowl…….. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Haley’s Chiefs fly into S.D. next week and get the W……Yeah Yeah lets not overlook Denver… Chiefs will take care of their Business this week and then Fly West and sweep the Chargers…I guarantee it Namath style.

  9. Kerouac says:

    Actually bs ^
The Chargers arguably have a more storied history than do we in kc… they were in 5 the first 6 AFL Title GamesWorld Championship Games & won an World Championship in 1963, before there were any Superbowls (the chiefs have won 1 ultimate/Championship game, the Texans another.) AFL teams through ’65 have as much right to claim an World Championship as the NFL teams same then do my opine, for shy playing one another neither/both can claim the honor. That ’63 team SD’s was so good the NFL Bears refused an direct challenge to play them (as in schicken) – and to this day the Chargers fly the "1963 World Champions" banner at their Stadium, and rightly so. ______________________ Now as to the Genius, Al Davis: even kc’s 1969 Championship is tainted via the ‘backing in’ term if we use the same (il)logic those who denigrate Herm Edwards 2008 Chiefs playoff team. In ’69, we finished 2nd behind OAK – again, for the 3rd straight year – and only a ‘fluke’ one-time special wildcard playoff format for that season alone allowed kc to advance post season. Otherwise, the chiefs would still be looking for a first Championship today. ________________ Too, the Al Davis Raiders have had far more success than have we here kc: Superbowls, Hall of Fame players, the whole gamut. In fact, even Hank Stram acknowledged a bit good fortune aft the 1969 AFLTitle Game in OAK, as he sheepishly admitted : "we beat one of the greatest teams in pro football today- maybe the greatest." My favorite team was & will e’er remain the Chiefs, tho I am not a fan of the duffer and clam chowder and await their departure. That said, my second favorite team has always been the Raiders, followed by the Chargers & the GB Packers. This is how it has been & will e’er be for me. I’m also a Dodgers fan baseball, and my second favorite team is the SF Giants. It is the ‘sport’ I’ve always loved moreso the city/team name, and in this modern era football morass of watered down parity, i.e., the worst football I’ve seen in my lifetime, old habits die hard. I follow sports moreso out of habit today than love as afore, truth be known… that said – GO BRONCOS! GO CHARGERS! GO (AWAY) duffer/clam chowder!

Glaze has the perfect take on this-
Kerouac. So I can only add this, if the Cheifs win this week (I think they will.) and go to STDiego, and win, we are gonna beat you on this blog like a fuckin rented mule. ——————————-STDeigo has a pretty good team, and they are peaking as usual at the right time. It is a long shot for the young Chiefs to go out there and win. But after all the shit you talked, I am comin early, often and with prejudice.—————————We will just have to agree to dissagree on this, The Chiefs are getting better really quick, and STDiego is no better, and, maybe a little worse than last year. ——————Your General manager, AJ Smith, Carl Peterson’s father, has a penchant for pissing off players and a zip code for an ego. Out, out brief candle, this year is almost over, and so is STDiego.

  11. Kerouac says:

    "Kerouac"
~ ~ yes, what is it now shuck? ___________"if the Cheifs win this week (I think they will.) and go to San Diego and win we are gonna beat you on this blog like a fuckin rented mule." ~ ~ of dear, now I’ve gone & upset you & your bandwagoneering applecart. Now I may not be able to come back here again (until Sunday or Monday.)__________"after all the shit you talked, I am comin early, often & with prejudice." ~ ~ uh oh, I am (almost) unspeakably wounded ______ "The Chiefs are getting better really quick, and San Diego is no better" ~ ~ is that why kcinderella has gone just .500 the last 6 games? Some of that ‘improvement’ since the faux 3-0 start? And San Diego is "no better", yet has won 4 in a row including 3 over the same 3 teams kcinderella lost to already? _________________________________________________ "Your General manager, AJ Smith" ~ ~ he’s not mine, he belongs to the ages. ___________ "Carl Peterson’s father" ~ ~ never had the pleasure, but am sure he too is an wonderful man. By the way what do you think of kc’s duffer with the broken razor? "has a penchant for pissing off players and a zip code for an ego." ~ ` good, we’ve consensus. ______________ "Out, out brief candle, this year is almost over, and so is San Diego." ~ ~ Out, damn’d spot! out, I say! – One; two: why, then ’tis time to do’t. Hell is murky. Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our pow’r to accompt? -Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him? To paraphrase Shakey Bill: Savior the form torrential downpour not a rescuer a second time, I like the San Diego Super-Chargers to kick the ever-lovin **** out of my chiefs nee kcinderella. Win or lose, right or wrong, Kerouac stands tall! That is all, for now…

Harley or whoever you may be sir. I read on another comment that you felt some of these people backing up Glazer are not real. I am the name you see on this comment. I am a real person sir. We all enjoy the humor of others and even their dislike for high profile people like Glazer or Whitlock so on. However when the man writes a clear and correct analysis of the KC Chiefs situation, then you call him out on it with no reason other then "he doesn’t know football just hookers, but YOU do." My dear Harley Glazer writes on this website because he is considered a pretty smart man. You aren’t.

More important what backs you up? His credits back him up, who the F are you? Craig nice story and right to the point. Most of us agree.

  14. chuck says:

    ok
