Screw Entercom — I wish Alden and MU would negotiate a deal with someone else. Getting pushed to 1660 AM is a complete joke. I called 980 AM at kickoff of the Illinois game and the guy answering the phones was pissed at management because he was getting cussed up and down with non-stop phone calls. I wasn’t mad it him because I knew it wasn’t his decision. He admitted it was a stupid decision and gladly gave out the contact info for the programming director, who made the decision.

Jojo, have you seen the NBA schedule? To say that college basketball is more taxing on a college coach is ridiculous. Sure, college coaching is a 365 day haul but NBA COACHING IS GRUELING! They have, by far, the longest season and if your team goes to the playoffs it becomes a 9-month long season. Self gets to sleep at home way more than he would if he was an NBA coach. You’re overselling the offseason commitment. Recruiting where they actually go on the road is broken down to month long or so sections of the off-season. NBA coaches have already been at it for a month…and will keep going until May or June if they have any success.
There’s a reason why Calipari and Pitino are in the college game…and before you say its because they failed in the pros, that’s not it. Either of those two could have NBA jobs right now. But job security, a short season and $3 million+ salaries make destination coaching jobs better than most pro jobs where you’re hired to be fired.
That said, Bill Self will be coaching the Thunder within 5 years if they’ve yet to win a title with Durant:)
