    I can’t stand Fescoe; he embarrasses me as a Jayhawk. I wish he didn’t think he was speaking for all of us so often. Idiot.

    I’m supposed to play sand volleyball tonight at 8 p.m. My original thought was to DVR the game and watch it when I get home later tonight. But now I’m wondering if it’s going to be worth the lost sleep that will come with watching the game late at night, to say nothing of the clogged DVR space that might leave little room for Tosh.0 and Futurama recordings.

    What should I do?

    Bill Snyder — the latest in a long line of greats who have trouble calling it quits. Maybe he’s afraid of being like Bear Bryant. The guy died like 20 minutes after he retired. It’s kind of like rich people who squirell away pennies. Whatever it is in their makeup that allows them to accumulate wealth also prevents them from enjoying it.

    I’m kind of glad I’m on DISH. I CAN’T watch the game tonight.

    Steve–

    Do some research into how much space your DVR has, see how much is already used, than react accordingly.

    I can’t watch sporting events that aren’t live, knowing that a click of the mouse will get me all the information I need. I just don’t DVR live sporting events. Never have.

    Coach Old Balls came back to a radically different scene than the one he left. He used to be able to pilfer the KC area, the STL area, and Texas for recruits. That’s all gone. The KC area kids largely go to MU, some to KU and a few to OU. The STL area is all MU and a couple Big 10 schools. All the kids he used to get out of Texas now go to Missouri. He can still recruit his jucos, I suppose. To me, the biggest obstacle to KSU’s resurgence is the presence of Missouri. They are now up and running with a solid program. That wasn’t the case when he left during the Brad Smith era.

    Jip,

    My DVR won’t reveal how much space a pending recording will take. I’m up to about 60 percent capacity already. And I still have a couple 60 Minutes episodes I don’t want to delete yet.

    Recording sporting events is a treat. You can watch sports so much faster by breezing through all the worthless commercials. Anymore, it’s rare that I want to sit through an entire live game or event with loud unfunny beer commercials and vapid half time commentary. I used to suffer through 90 minutes of track & field meet coverage to watch four minutes of action during the 1,500. Now I can cut out time wasted on sprint false starts and pole vault coverage and find what I want.

    “GH: Kansas basketball season started with the opening-game loss to Fargo and could get a renewed sense of urgency with a loss tonight against rival K-State.”

    Did you mean Kansas FOOTBALL season?

    Tough Crowd here…what do you want? Hawks and Cats on National TV on picture perfect night. -3 tells us KU is better than we thought and KSU is not as good? I always enjoy this match-up. KSU 21- KU-14

    @ Chuck …maybe you could do one of your screenplays for us of what Joe Paterno and Bill Snyder go thru On Gameday…something like have a successful bowel movement-Check…Catch The Sunrise Community Shuttle to stadium-Check…Fill out 3×5 index cards of all my starters-Check…

    No. He meant basketball season because the bandwagon KU fans went leaping OFF the bandwagon when they lost to NDSU. It was at that point that hoops season started for the typical KU fan.

    The two schools’ fans may not be too excited about this game, but plenty of MU fans are looking forward (“excited” would be an exaggeration) to this game because it’s something to watch on Thursday night and we always like to watch KU and KSU rip into each other. As usual, since games can no longer end in ties, most MU fans will root for KU to lose this game but would love to see KSU have to sweat it out to the bitter end. A great result would be something like the Chiefs/Colts game last weekend — where both teams were dejected (at least to some degree) following the game. That aside, I predict this game goes down to the wire, with KSU winning a low scoring affair. How about a 3-2 KSU win? That would be perfect.

    A week ago I would have said KSU 48, KU 21, but after being at the game last Thursday and watch K-State’s D play I’m afraid I have to take KU tonight, 28-20. When in doubt, take the team with the better D (which statistically is KU) and the better QB (which is KU and half the Sunflower League).

    MU isn’t the reason Snyder will continue to produce 5-8 win teams. It’s the explosion of money in the South. Texas, OU, OSU, A&M and Tech are all heavily invested in football. I know Texas and OU (and A&M but they haven’t had the recent success) always have been, but look at those programs before Stoops and Brown got there. Not even close to what they are now. Bishop, Roberson, Buhl and two dozen other guys were all Texas guys that might not have made it Manhattan had things been how they are now in the 96-00. Anyway, here’s hoping my prediction is wrong……

    If KSU loses this game….cash it in. There will be no bowling. KU will not get to a bowl game regardless, but KSU has a shot and NEEDS a bowl game bad! KSU has a ton at stake here.

    Don’t know who I’d pick but this matchup is much better for KU. If their D can do anything, it’s stop the run.

    BTW Eric…..I don’t see this scene as that radically different for Snyder Balls. He and his program were in decline when he left the first time around.

    Basketball season starts in 19 days. Everyone knows KU is more known for our basketball. The football glory the fatman brought was fun while it lasted… but it was short lived….. oh well …whatja gonna do??
    ==============================

    Basketball season starts in 19 days, and looks to be another good year us.

    Some (loser) morons claim that if your team does not win the National Title is was a bad year, then again those moron attended jrBIG 12 schools and cant recall the last time they won the BIG 12 and they have never won a National Title… KU HAS 3 NOW….

    I say;
    if we can help some kids grow up and play some good basketball, then it was a good year.

    GO KU BASKETBALL!!!!! GO BILL SELF!!!

    Once again, Nick Wright demonstrates how much he knows about sports. Does anyone take that guy seriously?

    Doing some browsing and noticed your website appears a bit messed up in my K-meleon internet browser. But fortunately hardly anyone uses it any longer but you may want to look into it.
