The police called them on it and the Star tap danced. By the way, the Star is supposed to be the responsible reporting entity on news. Not follow some blogging rumor. And certainly a story headline is not supposed to include dramatic information – or any information – that is not in the body of the story.
They call that an error.
The Independent Rage I see that the Star has at least now deleted the word “beating” from that online headline. But you’re correct: They certainly fucked up in using that headline in the first place. 400 email addresses. It said that the victim
had an uncle in the police department who
was talking about the beating. I am not
a journalist …i asked people to verify information and not make a statement as to the
validityof its contents.
You however jump all over this. This is your
site. You control it. why did you try to
pursue the star and their reports when you
have been wrong all along.
Stop this behavior. It is harmful to the
griving family and friends.
