Perhaps comedy is the only way we can be confronted with these things. Because the truth is bound to hurt.
Markus Aurelius Louis CK was really funny in a weird-Uncle-TMI-kind of way before his divorce but ever since his divorce he seems woefully depressed and unreasonably cynical about his life and life in genera. There is value in pointing out the idiocies of our culture today through comedy but it’s hard to appreciate the honesty and insight when it’s wrapped inside such cynicism and sorrow. I kinda feel sorry for the guy but then it seems likely that he made the bed that he is now sleeping in.
