Hearne: Go Ask Alex, Alice Cooper Flashback w/ Art Brisbane Back

Alright, already…

Another calendar year, another visit to the concert bank by ’70s showman Alice Cooper. Along with the attendant local reviews extolling the darkness of his stage antics and the enduring qualities of his music catalogue.

But how about something new to go with Cooper’s old?

Actually, make that something really, really old. Something buried in the sands of time , written about Cooper when he most mattered, by a former colleague of mine at the Pitch, Alexandra Trozzolo. Something from Ye Olde

Hilarious. 1977 was a good year for backstage party’s and other shenanigans and shameless indulgences. No doubt about it.

I had always heard what I thought was (sub)urban legend, that Alice Cooper attended a party at that house on the cliff overlooking I-70. Of course, those stories also included satanic ritual, drinking of blood, etc. Nice to know the real story, I had thought of that recently as AC was playing so near that location.

I was at this party! I recall Cooper’s entrance with that lady. Seemed she was holding him up, mostly. They did a “once around” the place and split very soon from what I remember. I don’t remember much about Benson, though I heard he was there too.

Alice Cooper is one of my personal heros. I have seen that fkr so many times (going all the way back to 197X) and through all that time he rocked the house EVERY FKN TIME….

    The point?

NOT ONE TIME did he ever talk about going sober or preaching about it. There was NEVER a point in time where he indicated or a time where I could notice that he was pre-sober vs post sober.

    ALICE NEVER TALKED ABOUT IT….
Fkn Ted Nugent and those buttholes from KISS do always talk about it,,, always blah blah about how they never partied…. I SAY ..WHO FKN CARES!!?? If you never partied then you are unworthy to talk about….. compared to Alice who partied his balls off and then stopped, without making a big deal about it.

ALICE NEVER said “I am sober”… balh blah balh….Alice just kept rocking the fkn house.

Only through time and stories/tales did I even learn about about his issues (golfing to drinking to drugging.. etc)

I guess at one point he just stopped, and that was that…. but he kept rocking….HOW COOL IS THAT?

He never preaches about it, he just rocks and rolls and never stops.

    PS
Fking FINALLY they are letting him the RnR HOF…

    ==========================
Alice is a personal hero of mine.
    ===========================

    PPS

    Talk is cheap…..
    do or dont do…..
but talk a bunch of BS.

Most mattered in 1977? Are you joking? If it was five years earlier, I could see it, but by ’77 AC was on cruise control musically and BTW was in the throes of a huge alcohol problem personally.

He conquered the latter (good for him) but never the former. To me, “Alice Cooper” is a band that had great songs like “I’m 18,” “Under My Wheels” and, of course, “School’s Out.” After that, Vince became a cabaret act.

uh Rick, maybe it is YOU (and YOUR mentality) that became old, outdated and a cabaret act. You must have lost track and/or stopped paying attention because Alice Cooper continues rock and roll and release new music and videos to this day.

It is sad that you became old and bored, but that is your issue, and you should not project that problem upon the great Alice Cooper.

Just like idiots who blah blah blah that The Rolling Stones have not put out any music since 1972… again… it is you all who have stopped rocking and became grandpas…… sure the stuff from 1972 was great, but if you missed out on the 1981, 1994, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2008… then you fucked up…. oops…. but the problem is in the mirror, not on stage.

Let me add that I will be headed to BESTBUY this morning to pick up my copy of “LADIES AND GENTELMEN THE ROLLING SRONES” for only $7.99

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Ladies+and+Gentlemen,+The+Rolling+Stones+-+Dolby+Dts+-+DVD/1273759.p?skuId=1273759&id=2141885

$7.99 ??? are you freekin kidding me??? This is the footage that has been floating around for years from the Exile on Mainstreet tour, M

and tonight after watching it (twice) we will rewatch “Bridges to Babylon” LIVE FROM ST LOUIE (yup I was there in 199X standing on the 7th row center at the TWA dome where they recorded that fkr)… and did I mention that we were in Boston in 1996 to see the Stones opening night for the Bigger Bang tour and in Wichita too??…… fk yeah!!!and we were with Slash kicking ass at the Voodoo lounge 2 weeks ago. ROCKANDFKNROLL!!
rock rock till you drop mthrfkrs!!

My My Hey Hey, better to burn out than fade away…. like grand paRick did.

oops…. that was in 2006 that we saw the Stones open the Bigger Bang tour in Boston’s historic Fenway Park (pronounced Bawstun… it helps if you have a pencil in your teeth when you say it ; )

    ps
One of the highlights of that Boston adventure??… eating(plus mucho drunking) across the street outside/inside a bar while listening to Mick Keith Charlie and the boys rehearsed all of the songs for 2 nights in a row….. no sights… but lots of sound….. it was freekin awesome.

I would love to see a contributor, that was a promoter or insider of the music business during the 70′ and 80’s, recount the concert scene in Kansas City.

Hey fan of the Rolling “Srones,” read my post again. I never claimed Vince or the Stones completely stopped making product (OK, music) after the 70s. Just that their efforts stopped mattering, using Hearne’s term.

These days I bet Vince is a lot happier on the golf course than the stage, but hey, the bills have gotta be paid, right?

Didn’t see AC, Rob Zombie show recently, but I’d bet anything Rob blew away the formerly great “Alice.”

BTW, it’s St. Louis, not “St. Louie.”

    Rick,
Of course you did not go to the concert, you QUIT many many years ago, but that does not stop you from posting your ignorant opinion (meaning you know nothing about it). Ignorance is is bliss and that probably keeps you happy.

Always funny when grandpa dorks only comments are about spellin mistooks….. hey look, it is time for your afternoon nap, you old geezer. Maybe best if you stick to threads/stuff you can watch on TV.

Playing the age card is the last refuge of the desperate and clueless. What this tells me is that you weren’t there when Alice Cooper was considered sexy and dangerous and I was which is another way of saying I pity you.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA…

    Rick,
you stupid piece of shit, you have no idea what you are talking/typing about, and you should should stop.

You blab about concerts you do not attend.

You blab about people you do not know.

Your only thing is spell checking, and a computer can do that. You worthless St Louie dork, go back where you came from and dont fk with me or Alice or the Stones.

You are a blab blab blab joke, you should stop while you are behind. You know nothing of which you type.
