Good luck in Chicago. Never done that race but I heard the atmosphere is incredible.

    ___

GH: The hay is in the barn as they say after my easy five-miler this morning. I’ve never run with 45K guys and gals in their underwear before but I’m looking forward to the scenery.

Chicago Marathon? Nice! Good luck, hope it goes well. We need a recap of the event sometime.

As a KU fan, I rooted for Nebraska. Sorry, but Nebraska is leaving, KSU is staying. I want KSU to suck it more. That’s just the way it is.
And yes, fully aware that KU is going to suck it next week.

Good luck this weekend Greg. Running a marathon is a man’s game.

Will be listening to KK today, he got what he wanted with his little rant yesterday. I am guessing the worst of the NU fans will be on the line to light him up and “prove his point.”

I’m a KC native living in Colorado and caught the rant, it was AWESOME! I had the displeasure of living in Omaha for a year a while back and previously had admired Husker program. Unlike most cities I’ve lived in, I left that town absolutely dispising the color red, the phrase “black shirts”, and most of the one dimensional husker-fk people that lived there. In preparation for their move to the Big 10, I have preemptively jumped on the Iowa Hawkeye bandwagon and can’t wait for the rivalry to start.
I randomly checked in on the broadcast yesterday online- very glad I did. Give’em hell Kevin!

I think Kietzman will likely drop the ball on inviting Matt Davison on his show. But call Shevin Wiggins. Maybe he can kick the ball back.

You’re wrong GH, KK doesn’t have a heart, only a wallet. He’s just PO’d that he won’t have the Huskers to beat up (metaphorically) any more. He’s the KC sports version of Glenn Beck. All KK needs is a blackboard.

Now, if anybody wants or needs, I can make arrangements for Matt Davison to make an appearance. Only if necessary. I have no idea who knows who and how well, or how people are going to react, but I know, from texting going on yesterday (Thursday), his wife was interested in what was going on.
No, I wasn’t listening. Some people can’t take their eyes off train wrecks, but I am not one of them.

Gregger, why not let jojo pinch hit? Go to Buona Beef and get the footlong Italian Sausage covered with Italian Beef and drenched in au jus.

Good losers are just that, GOOD LOSERS. If you’re not pissed when you lose a game, set, match, hand of cards, rock-paper-scissors, sale, girlfriend, blah-blah-blah, you’ve got NO GAME, no fire in the belly. You need to maintain some grace but it’s good to be pissed and maybe a bit of an asshole when you lose.

You wanna be a GOOD LOSER? Move to France.

KK is turning into Oprah…in his case let’s call him DOPRAH. Jagoff-American Tourister set of DOUCHEBAGGAGE!

Mr. Martinez has got to be a blacktino. I’ve NEVER seen a hispanic wheel like that. Either that or he comes from a long line of river runners. He runs the option better than JC Watts. Better improve his arm cause his game does not transfer very well to the NFL. In the meantime he seems like a good kid and he’s fun to watch.

Just wait til we have a Martinez vs Sanchez Superbowl. Holy Chicken Mole’!

God Bless those Nebraska fans. THEY TRAVEL VERY WELL! Don’t know how that’s gonna work in the BIG 10, but there is not an AD anywhere in the universe that wouldn’t KILL for fans like that. Have also found over the years when encountering them that they are very friendly, good at breaking balls tit for tat, sharing food and drink and fixing broken down vehicles.

Good Luck in Chicago Gregger! Be Safe!

    ___

GH: smartman, staying down near Grant Park, about 1/2 mile from race start/finish. Can I take the L to Buona Beef? Better question, can I eat the footlong the night before w/o carrying it with me the next morning?

I used to think it was all part of his radio schtick and I’m sure it gets him listeners. But after today and yesterday, I think he really needs to spend some time on a psychiatrist’s couch. That dude has some serious, serious issues. His “just because your football team is better than mine doesn’t mean your a better person than me” thing today sounds a lot like he is trying to convince himself of that. Might want to schedule some time on a psychiatrist’s couch, KK. There are either some seriously repressed childhood things going on here, or he just really, really, really hates Nebraska football. Frankly, I’m not sure which is more disturbing.

Greg: If you can’t hit Buona Beef, hit Portillo’s. They have the same sandwich, I just prefer Buona Beef. I think I’d wait til after the race. Last thing you need is that beef and pork mixture wanting to make a move on you during a marathon. The farts though will make sure you’ve got lots of space around you.

GH, you contradicted yourself again. Early on, you said you were perplexed by the venom directed at the Huskers as they do this fairwell tour through the Big 12 and then later you chide Husker fan for mocking Snyder’s birthday in the 4th quarter.

I saw group of red-clad men storm a family restroom pushing aside a father with his 3-yr old leg-crossed son trying to make it in time, and keep the kid at bay while they individually used the bathroom.

    I’ll miss those classy Huskers!

    Good luck in Chicago.

As KU grad, I rooted for the damned corn b/c if KSU wins, they fill our stadium next thursday. now they stay home.

I can’t wait for the corn to leave. They’re doing it one year too late b/c they’re going 9-0 in Big 12 unless McFlynez gets hurt.

-Bubba Starling is better in HS than Carson Coffman is after 5 in college

-That beating last night was the worst I’ve seen KSU suffer by a non-Bob Stoops or Mike Leach coached team. Sad is that all Nebraska does in run the zone read. Martinez is fast, but I could have run some of those holes last night.

-KK is right, I’ve experienced the condensing, prickish nature of Nebraska fans in Lincoln and Manhattan. But you know what, who cares?

    ___

GH: dp might have the best attitude about dipshit fans. We all know ’em, have all seen ’em and all dealt with them from many schools. As long as you’re not married to one or they follow you home, fuggitaboutit.

GH-you really are Forrest Gump! Yes we’ve seen this from kk. He actually tried to compliment ku fans today. Really? Anyway, all fan bases have good and bad fans. There is certainly a chip on the shoulders of ksu fans that is larger than others…and kk’s is a boulder! I root for NE as their success helps my business. biggest outdoor venue in Chicago. (Rush & Cedar).
Cheers! and don’t pull anything on that 50-something
    “temple” of yours.

I was driving around town yesterday when I hit scan and came up with WHB – 810. I probably caught about an hour and half of KK’s pre-game show. I thought, man, we might spend 15″ on this stuff up here but then we’d talk about game plan and guys to watch out for. Every time I got back in the car I couldn’t believe it was still on. And I missed the good stuff early on. I don’t know if it fired up K state but I am sure it fired up the NU team if they were tuned in. By the way, I don’t hate people in Kansas nor do I think I am superior to them. My wife is from Kansas and I got a whole lot of in-laws in KS. Some I like better than others, kind of like opposing fans and crazy djs. I do believe our football team is superior to K state this year. Don’t know what I’ll do next year. Guess I’ll have to scan Iowa looking for some KKK Hawkeye.
However, I do believe NU’s football team

I’ve been to lincoln 4 times for games and
found the cornhusker fans to be great fans
and great people…even when mu beat htem
    in lincoln.
I’VE TRaveleed to many away games fo chiefs
and college football…and found that every team
has disgusting fans….even kc and kstate and
    mu and ku.
But they are the minority. Many fans are fans
and not the dogs people think.
Went to an mu-cu game in boulder. It got sobac
the cu fans were tearing wood from their
bleachers and throwing them at us.
Of course they were jealous because we
had our own keg of beer in the sxtudent
    section.
We got one guy…put him in a wheelchair..stuck
a big keg of beer between his legs…put a
blanket over his legs and wheeled him into the
student section seats. After the game started
we pulled out the keg and drank with tons of
the fans in our section. It was a blast.
But in colorado…they smoke weed at football
    games…it was a blast.
So every team has some bad fans..some worse then
    others….but Nebraska fans are rabid…they’ll
die for that team…and this year i think they’ll
be playing for a national championship…
they are very very good and mu or texas won’t
beat them…so they could go undefeated
thru the season….up against alabama i think
    they are losers.
Anyway…they made a decision for their own
future to move to the big 10…I wish them luck…and they won’t be missed……
    i was right on nebraska-ksu game…
    heres todays…MU 24 CU 17….
MU stays undefeated and looks forward to a
long stretch of gams they will lose….

I usually turn off the radio when I get home in the afternoon, but sat in the truck for several extra minutes Thursday listening to KK’s rant. It was priceless.

I’ve been a Big 8/12 fan since childhood, and there’s never been a time when I didn’t hate Nebraska. And the more I’ve seen over the years, the deeper that hatred becomes. The program reeks of arrogance and every word out of the mouth of that MF Tom Osborne reeks with condescension; he’s the Tom Watson of college football coaches, Mr. Know-It-All and Better-Than-You. And too many of the Huskers’ fans are no different.

Of course, I’m sorry to see NU leave the conference. You can’t have good rivalries without a little hatred, and the Huskers are so easy to hate. They make Oklahoma seem lovable.

JoJo, the beer keg story was priceless! Thank you for the support. MoCrash I am sorry you feel that way, I always thought Mizzou was one of our toughest rivals. If it were the Big 8 we wouldn’t be leaving believe me, the fans wouldn’t stand for it. We are just kind of tired of everything (offices, title games – etc. moving South West. See you in the B10 in 5 years.

Agree with the nasty fan comment. Worst fans were Texas–went in 2005 to watch Texas be bailed out by paid off zebras (three holding calls in a row) against a Bill Callahan-led team. Until Texas took the lead late, the local ‘whorn fans kept loudly referring to a pre-pubescent girl that was standing and cheering for Nebraska as “that little Cornhusker c**t”.

It wasn’t until I recorded them with my phone and threatened to get security over that they knocked it off. And by then, the checks written to the zebras cleared the bank and Texas was in the lead.

Every fan base has them–even Nebraska–but they seem to be a bigger or smaller subset depending on the team. For schools like Texas, Kansas State, Colorado, Texas Tech, and Iowa State, those subsets are significantly large.

Also, a shout-out to Texas A&M fans–best fans to away guests in the Big XII, hands down. Can’t beat a fight song that, instead of being directed towards the visiting team, is always aimed squarely at Austin.

Did you hear the violins on Friday?… KK was talking about how his Dad worked himself to death to send his kids to college. He talked about a girl not being able to date him in High School because he was Catholic.
Yes those Johnson County Catholics were really persecuted back in the 80’s.
He went into this Harry Trumanesque, man from humble beginnings stuff.
He says K-Staters are simple people, not elitists. He is one of them.
Yes… I always feel insecure when I am in North Platte… those elitists.
KK said that if K-State and NU traded Quarterbacks, K State would have won.
K-State cannot recruit the California State Champion quarterback. Nebraska can. Besides, the NU line was blasting lanes open all night.
K-State does a great job recruiting Kansas Community colleges. Whoops.. I sount elitist.

@Omaha: A good rivalry needs some hatred, and since there isn’t anything I enjoy hating more than Republicans and the Huskers, I’ll miss Nebraska — the less harmful of the two.

I knew that once the Texas schools were let into the Big 12, that it would be an uneasy relationships and somebody — I reckoned Oklahoma first — would bolt after years of being tired of being treated like poor stepchildren by the Teasips. Unfortunately, I can’t work up that much animosity towards UT since I used to cover the program enjoyably. I’ve had no such connection with Nebraska, so no mitigating factor — such as basic professionalism — to quell my loathing.

  33. Anonymous says:

As noted every fan base has it’s obnoxious fans, but most fans are A-OK people.

Now as for KK…REALLY? You’re so angry at Nebraska you devote 4 hours of your life to rant about it? I’ve had plenty of things in my life that have made me angry, but outside of something extremely personal to me I can’t think of anything that has made me so angry as to go off for 4 hours. Take a chill pill man…it’s college football, not a molester fiddling your kid!

Anyways, good luck in the Marathon! I ran last year…was a great experience but I got lucky with the cooler weather last year. I’m working the water stop at mile 10.5, so maybe I’ll be the one handing you your gatorade 😉

If you feel ok enough after the marathon, forget about all the downtown restaurants mentioned here and head out into the neighborhoods…there are some fabulous hole in the wall restaurants out there. The West Loop is decently close to downtown and has some top notch restaurants like The Girl and the Goat and The Publican. Or head to Greek Town and get some souvlaki at The Greek Isles. Fuggedabout Rush Street…way overrated!

Speaking of Kansas State, some things will never change: it is south of Nebraska, always has been (double entendre) & always will be.

“Resentful or bitter in rivalry, jealous of the success others. Feelings of apprehension, envy and bitterness” – KK’s whining MO regards teams not his – jealousy by any other. Funniest thing the Sunflower State since Vince Gibson & Pepper Rodgers misconstrued hand-shake for fist.

  36. Anonymous says:

Not at all, kcredsox. The more Republicans in power, the more there are to hate and even better reason to hate them. When they’re a weak minority, they can’t do much damage and are therefore not worth getting worked up about.

“Personally I think if you have been reported to chexsystems you’re a loser and dont deserve a checking account since you clearly cant manage it. But putting my opinions aside…some major banks like BofA and Wells Fargo should be able to open an account unless you have been reported to ChexSystems for fraud then you might just be out luck. Also, HSBC is an online only bank that may be able to help. Best of luck thought because once you are on chexsystems you are on there for 5 years no questions asked!!”
