I don’t think Whitlock ruined his image with The Explanation. I think he enhanced it. His image was of a guy who didn’t care fuckall about who he firebombed or how many ashes he left behind. He worked hard to cultivate that image and The Explanation brought that point home pretty well. James, on the other hand, didn’t really do anything with The Decision to help his image in the least.

Look at us, weeks and weeks later and we’re still talking about Whitlock. He is still getting Kietzman’s goat and forcing the Kansas City media, KC Confidential included, to mention him on a near-daily basis. Can you tell me again how did Whitlock destroy his image?

Let’s not kid ourselves: Whitlock may have left the Star with guns blazing, but he took a step up, not a step down.

He went from a dying local newspaper to a national website with huge television money backing it. How on earth is that a step down?

Yes, Whitlock torches every former employer. But the guy puts asses in the seats, so to speak. Employers will keep hiring him because a very large amount of people will keep reading him. It’s not rocket science.

HC: He didn’t go from to, he was already banging away at Fox. What happened is he lost a healthy-but-low six-figure paycheck at the Star and is still doing the same old, same old online. And there is a school of thought out there by people who think they’re in the know that W’s weekly online columns pay maybe five-figures.

That was my immediate reaction, as well, GH, even before reading your comment: Calling someone a “bust” after three games is way over-the-top, even by Whitlock’s standards. Apparently his new gig requires him to be even more provocative than he ever needed to be at the Star. The problem with that is while I rarely, if ever, before questioned that Whitlock actually believed all the stuff he spouted, when he starts to go THAT FAR, I have to question whether he is actually being honest (as opposed to simply being outrageous for outrage sake). Pretty sad stuff.

Whitlock is the opposite of Brian Burwell. Burwell’s gigs keep getting worse with less readers, and Whitlock’s keep getting better with more readers. And what really pisses KK off is that he knows damn good an well that his career has gone as far as it’s going to, which is the extent of 810’s signal. He realizes that he doesn’t have the talent to go any further. Whitlock does. And this comes from a guy who doesn’t like that fat tub of shit very much at all. What pisses BOTH guys off, is that they are more alike than they’d like to admit. Birds of a feather, those two.

Word on the street is that the Genital Giant, AKA the Groin Garroter, has been fined $5000 per testicle by the NFL.

Anything that Whitlock says about the Chiefs has to be taken with a block of salt. First of all it is opinion, and second, he is still bitter about being “manipulated” by Pioli. Do sports journalists, whatever media they represent, truly expect GM’s, coaches or players to be totally forthright and honest when speaking about what goes on in locker rooms and offices at one arrowhead drive? I could give a shit less, the only thing that interests me is W’s.

Agree with everything Jason Whitlock said –

    “Quarterback Matt Cassel is horrible.”

    – check

“Rookie safety Eric Berry is off to a terrible start.”

    – check

    “Second-year defensive lineman Tyson Jackson

Since we’re talking about school’s of thought, try this one. KK, Hearne, Greg, Fitz, Bob Moore, Flanny and Glazer are a group of middle-aged white men who are angry a black man’s career continues to rise while they’re in decline. It’s just a school of thought.

Whether you have a contract or a handshake agreement, when you walk out on your employer on less than a day’s notice, that’s pretty lame. When you use your employer’s facilities to rip them on the air to the point where they have to shut off your mike, that’s lame. When you leave your job and publicly discuss personal matters of other employees you worked with, that’s extremely lame. The guy is a me first serial sensationalist who cannot be trusted.

I used to be an avid Whitlock reader, but I don’t take what the guy writes seriously anymore, especially when he is writing one of his many columns about ethics and integrity.

Hey guys nobody was any harder on the Chiefs then I was. “The Mess” I called them all preseason. They deserved it based on all we know,HOWEVER, lets see these next two big games. See if Matt continues to improve. Brady says he’s a player and so does Wes Welker. I know all the downside of him, but maybe, just maybe it was in his head, maybe just maybe he can pull his head out of his rear. I think he has the chops, he was just screwed up in the nogin, lets see? As far as Berry, he’s a hard, hard hitter, needs to make plays, he hasn’t done much there, no fumbles recovers, no interceptions got you there. But a bust, no far from that, he’s just been a bit like D Johnson in year one, but I think he will be a good one by mid season.

Now I’m like the rest of Chiefs nation…OK LETS WAIT AND SEE…GIVE PEACE, I MEAN GIVE THEM A CHANCE, I love the 3-0…Jackson is a bust yes…

I said in another OTC, Whitlock has hurt his carrer. When he was on ESPN, Star and 810/610 no one could touch him.

He seemed like he could be at least what Micheal A. Smith is right now. At the best he could of been Stephen A. Smith.

Then he quit 810. Then he quit 610. Then ESPN FIRED HIM. Make no mistake about that ESPN FIRED WHITLOCK!

Without radio and ESPN, Whitlock turned irrelavent. No one cared what he thought. Now, he’s gone from the longest job he ever dad.

And as I said on another OTC, unless Foxsports gives Whitlock a radio show and or a segment on Fox NFL Sunday with Bradshaw, Long, Mike and Jimmy, I think he will quickly become irrelavent again.

Tom Brady and Wes Welker are being kind. Matt Cassel is a BUST. Put a few loaded Corona’s in those guys and they’ll tell ya, off the record, he’s a pussy.

None of Whitlocks current observations are much different from what gets posted here. He’s a washed up hack. His dream of being Mike Royko is shattered. He got hired because of his skin color. He’s awful on radio and tv compared to AJ Adande or Mike Wilbon. He’s semi-knowledgable about football and being black. That’s his game. It doesn’t have depth. His 15 minutes is up unless he cuts a deal with Nutrisystem or puts out a sex tape.
