C’mon Greg you don’t think that any radio duos in the Big XII have FREEDOM OF SPEECH do you. They’ve got more reins on them than the Clydsdales. Freedom of Speech on college campuses, or is it “campi” is reserved for 911 Truthers and anybody else that wants to blame white Christian men who own guns and are good husbands and fathers for all the worlds problems

Every time I see or hear Todd Leabo all I can think of is Larry Mondello from Leave it to Beaver.

Can’t stand Stan Weber. The guy never shuts up. Since I’m not a K-State fan, I’m not forced to listen to him. That being said, it is much more painful to listen to John Kadlec on Mizzou broadcasts. That guy takes brutal to a whole new level.

Keitzman Junior….errrr, Stan Weber is a HOMER to the point where I don’t think he can objectively call a KSU game anymore.

Weber at K-State, Kadlec at Mizzou and Bukaty at KU, all three schools have a broadcaster that makes you question whether or not your eardrums are really all that important.

Greg, wasn’t your wife the one that thought Sandy Koufax was a feminine hygiene product discarded on the beach?

GH: Uncle Dick, I am thinking about writing a book titled; Shit My Wife Says.

Could Mitch Holthus, Stan Weber, and Wyat Thompson all fit in one room together with their massive inflates egos and homerism? If so, who would be more annoying? Heard Mitch (while talking with Todd Haley last night) say “Bring the hammer down” during his Chiefs’ Kingdom show. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry

I cannot stand anything about the University of Misery, however Mike Kelly is by far the best radio voice in the region. Heck, I even liked him on the Chiefs’ preseason.

I’ll give Weber the benefit of the doubt since he was the Cat signal caller, but Wyatt Thompson is horrible. I don’t care if he’s a homer, I care about the play-by-play and Thompson is a joke. When listening to the Cats I normally get an idea what’s going on by listening to the crowd reaction. Thompson is rarely specific when calling pass plays. A fifty yard pass is treated like a ten yard out. Sometimes we want to know what yard line the pass went to Wyatt

gh: It is why I am saddened that this is the Huskers final dance through this great conference and their familiar backyards.

You shouldn’t be “saddened.” You should be angry at your own people Husker. They placed you in this precarious position of running from Bevo into the waiting arms of a college football buzzsaw.

Your lovely wife and Neil Smith should have lunch sometime…or should have their own movie review show….or should be the shadowed heads at the bottom of the screen in Mystery College Football Theater 3000. Wherever they go, write it DOWN!

GH: Not surprisingly, my wife understands everything Neil says.

All the local sports teams have homer announcers. This is not news.

GH- How about former Husker announcer Jim Rose? He makes Stan and Wyatt seem biased against K-State…

    ___

GH: dp, While Rose’s friendly dialogue with Kevin Kietzman over the years on WHB would give that impression, Rose was actually very tough on the Huskers when he was their play-by-play voice. Greg Sharpe, the former KSU radio voice, replaced Rose and he is far from a Husker homer on the radio. I just prefer a broadcast that is more honest to what the announcers see instead of feeding me pabulum.

Regarding Mrs OTC: I understand her. I once commented to my husband that I didn’t like the Chiefs “traveling costumes” (away jerseys). He just got up and went to another room.

Good point about Jim Rose. He’s the biggest homer I’ve ever heard.

And Wyatt Thompson is awful. Most, if not all, K-State fans would agree with you.

Good stuff Uncle Dick. I laughed so hard my prefontal kotex exploded. You are a true rednecksance man!

The Beverly Hillbillies’ Mr. Drysdale (actor Raymond Bailey) appeared twice on the show Mr. Ed, and I’ve before confused Mr. Ed with NU Head Coach Bo Pelini, and so maybe I’m just as bad. But at least I’ve never confused Turner Gill with other African-American coaches who look nothing like him.

GH: Mr. Ed was far more familiar with the English language than Bo

Greg, ask your wife what she thinks of Dick Trickle! 🙂

Nice gal, Mrs. OTC, but thought June Henley was Beaver’s mom.

Dick Trickle? So an Early Wynn for you, and no Nahorodny, both Sox.

let’s not throw “quality” around so recklessly

KCSP’S NICK WRIGHT ON VACATION OR SUSPENDED?

    From Bottomline Communication.

As he was signing off his show yesterday KCSP’s controversial sports talker Nick Wright told his small listening audience that he would be off for a week.

That San Diego State win by Mizzou might end up being more impressive than everyone originally thought. I’m betting their at least a bowl team this year, for whatever that’s worth. They went out and prison raped the team that hung with OU this year, 41-7 this past week.

kadlec announcing at mu (the top journalism
school) is disgraceful. The guy says nothing
    important.
As far as bill snyder…give this guy a ton
of credit. even though they will lose to
nebraska by at least 21 points he’s done a
    good jobof bringing back ksu.
MU…the jury is still out…can’t figure this
team out but the next 4 games will tell us if
this team is for real….and if the running
game starts to click gabbert will put up some
    huge numbers…….

also…even though this new way arbitron is
measuring sucks…i can tell you from personal
experiecne and watching radio listening habits
that 610 has a larger audience than they are
getting credit for….its a younger audience
than 810 but they are gathering steam
    little by little.
thye may never reach 810’s numbers …but they
don’t need to for the owners to make money.

Bob Davis is probably as much of a homer as Weber and Kadlec, but I like Davis’ dry sense of humor. He’s a pretty quick-witted guy. Weber is serious as death 99% of the time.

Chris Piper, for KU basketball, does a nice job I think. He’ll let the listener know when KU isn’t playing well, but also can sound like a homer fan.

Before we Royals fans break our arms patting ourselves on the back, let’s remember that there were a goodly portion of Twins fans there Monday night. Maybe half? I doubt the Rays got many Baltimore fans, but the point is still true: 10k for a clinching team is horrid.

Did anyone else catch the radio broadcast of MU-San Diego State? After SDSU got the ball back only up by 3 with a few minutes on the clock and Mizzou still having timeouts, all the MU announcers including Mike Kelly announced that San Diego State had won the game. I’m not a Mizzou fan or anything but I enjoy Mike Kelly and to hear him and the entire MU broadcast concede the game just moments before TJ Moe saved their season was almost a fireable offense.

    ___

GH: We covered the SDSU/MU broadcast in an earlier OTC at this link; http://www.kcconfidential.com/?p=20252#more-20252

While the radio crew had all but given up hope, it was difficult to fault their pessimistic attitudes. And if I
