You think he is only making $200k a year? How can he afford a house in KC and one in Cali on that salary, never mind having Gates ship him short ends whenever he’s out of town.

    ___

GH: I don’t think JW owns any home in LA. Much of the info in this story was recycled from Whitlock’s interview with Nick Wright and Leif Lisec. Lisec asked Whitlock if he’d have a home in both LA and KC and Whitlock responded with, “Yes.” I think that talk is premature, depending on what roles JW will have with their television shows. He doesn’t need to be in LA to write an online column. And whatever housing arrangements he makes in LA, they will be more of the apartment variety most likely supplied by Fox.

The last Plambeck comment is telling, since you (GH) have commented recently on Whitlock’s thick-skin and ability not to give a rat’s behind about criticism. It’s a most admirable quality (particularly when one knows at heart that he’s stuck to principles in the words he’s written) and possessed by so few, it seems, in high profile positions in the media and public life at large.

Stay tuned, boys and girls. There’s a lot more to this story on the way.

We’re in the heat of college football and the local media hacks are still pining to write a story about this fat bastard Whitlock? Piss on him. He’s gone. No one except current and former Star employees give a rat’s ass about this guy.

Nice job by the NY Times to pick up on a BLOG rumor about Fatass’s salary and print it as fact. If he’s making $2 million to write online columns for a site nobody reads, then the world is indeed off its rocker.

    HEARNE…who cares…your’e losing reader with
    this crap…noone cares about whitlock…
have you heard of out of sight…out of mind…
    probably not.
You’re jealous that the guy got a new job on
a national blog with big salary. Whether its
2million or 20,000 its more than you’re making
    so stop being jealous.
    and hall…you’
re nothing compared to whitlock. You are so
jealous of this guy that you write for this
unknown blog and he’s making big buck writing
    nationally.
So stop whining and move on for gods sake.
You should be congratulating the guy for getting
a big money spot on fox.
Stop being so jealous of this guy. Itg looks bad.

From a semi-reliable source it’s more like $200K over three years. If and when he travels for non-blog related business Fox will pay for his travel and lodging expenses

Unless you believe in reincarnation Whitlock could NEVER become Rick Reilly.

let’s not forget jason’s original napalm moment, at 610 sports, when former gm cindy schloss had to turn off his mike and have his big ass escorted out of entercom’s building.

cindy went on to be area manager for weight watchers. apparently, jason didn’t follow her there for coaching.

jason continues his self-destructing behavior. one thing is for sure–jopo, joe posnanski was ALWAYS the better writer. and he exited with grace, and landed a truly better job at sports illustrated.

I live downtown, know Whitlock, he’s an ok guy. Two things, he has really no job, Fox pays him far, far less then the Star. He is bitter and wants to keep his personal things private. Can you blame him? He got a raw deal. He’s not broke, but will be if he doesn’t land something soon. Hope he does. 2 million, not true. Not close.

“Mr. Whitlock, what is this $514 tab at Denny’s? Isn’t it all you can eat for one price there?”

You guys are all correct. No way Jason could be making anywhere near what is being reported. New York Times is just a hack-rag-shell of its former self. Can’t believe they’d print an internet rumor as fact. This is just another example of the NYT trying to push forth a liberal agenda. Rich black people, that’ll be the day. This article is reverse racism at its finest.

@joe, I’m sure Rupert will make sure JW bashes his own card and then gets reimbursed. Wonder if the DIME at Leisure Dining LLC will slide pass the bean counters?

I miss the good old days when Titties R Us showed up on the billing statement.

JW is a talented writer. I’m glad he’s still getting paid to do it. the world needs more interesting people like him.
