I can’t imagine that he was simply “done,” but resigned in this manner. If he was simply “done,” wouldn’t the Chiefs have thrown him a party? Had him out for halftime or the coin toss or something? This was way too hastily done to simply say that he’s finished the work that he was tasked with doing. It may have been in the works for awhile, but I can’t see how he just quits one morning and that’s it.

However, there could be a lot of other issues that have nothing to do with pissing someone off or having acted in an unsavory fashion. Maybe he or his wife are sick and he needs to deal with that and he’s private enough that he doesn’t want to talk about it. Who knows? There are a lot of possibilities, but I agree that this whole thing smells pretty funny.

Good story Greg,as always. Thum was the ‘man’ with this organization for a couple decades. By that I mean he was the top guy in finding Veteran Talent, i.e. Joe Montana, Marcus, so on. Carl always took credit, but he was more involved in the draft and contracts with top players, esepcially a ‘second’ contract. Often that didn’t go well. When I was close with the Chiefs in the 90’s, Thum’s name came up often in who did what at Arrowhead, as far as the show and glam name players and guests. Later Carl took over the show and it seemed watered down by the late 90’s.

I am sure he was fired. Sure seems that way. Boy this organization..the best in NFL, sure knows how to treat its top players and execs huh?

This thing could have been predicted long ago. The move to St. Joe was in the works before Pioli came on, as was the stadium renovation. You can’t drop major projects like that mid-stream between major decision makers. Clark is paying oodles of simoleans to Pioli/Haley/Weis/Crennell, et.al. Contract negotiations moved to Pioli a year ago and other executive admin. tasks were moved to Morris. My guess is Thum knew this was coming. The MNF game was the ribbon cutting on the last of Thum’s work. You can bet as well that since Thum’s executive times with the Chiefs were spent mostly under Lamar and Carl, his input was persona non grata in Pioliville.

Nothing to note here. Move along people.

Yeah, they ditched Danny. New group sends the old one out to the pond. Great job Danny, hope you left with tons of money.

Is Clark going to run the Chiefs from Dallas or from his private island?

Since the renaming of the team to New England Midwest, they had to get any ranking member of the old regime out so they can make it official. Look for an old time Patriot/Giant to in town and be the President. Hmmm Parcels just relinquished his position with the Dolphins.

People, cant you see it? The writing is on the wall. The rats are fleeing the ship. The ship is sailing. LA Chiefs.

It is the only thing that makes sense. Hunt is a fkg asshole who is going to screw over the best fans aywhere and screw over the town that paid for improvements to the stadium.

Sure wKC can sue him, like we sued (and won $1.00) Trizec properties for fking over Union Station. Why we can not blow up that glass piece of sht bilding that forever ruined the view for Liberty Memorial is beyond me.

    anyway….

READ THE PRESS IN LA….. they are expecting a team. LA Chiefs.

Lost plenty of respect for Clark Hunt. If Denny Thum, a loyal highly respected class act of a guy, retired after 36 years with the Chief and they did not have the balls to recognize him before the game or at halftime, then Clark’s a pussy.

Lance is right Denny was forced out. Office politics are hell. The future for Denny was set in motion several months ago.

Denny was outstanding but either the transition is now complete OR Clark now wants to compete (as an “active owner”) with his neighbor in Dallas….It’s known as “keeping up with the Joneses”.

As for Craig Glaser’s “in the know” take on Thum being the free agent maestro in the early 90’s…not a chance. Denny was very junior to Carl in those days and there’s no way Carl took a backseat re Montana and Allen. It would have diminished him in the eyes of the Hunt Family and Carl was VERY adroit in his relationship with them, especially in the early years.

Again, Craig..stick with your sex life and the club scene… your full of Bullshit re sports and it really showed in your latest post.

This stinks like 30 day old schmeg. My intuition tells me when they truth comes out, and it will, we’re gonna see what a real lowlife, douchebag, panty-waist Clark Hunt is. He’s gonna make Nick Wright look like Suge Knight
