Why can’t people forget that little dust-up a couple of months ago?
Thousands of black kids running through the plaza taunting, beating and intimidating white people, and now, on this night, why can’t “WE all just get along?”
I talked to a cop after that last epsode of “Wild Kingdom”, and he told me it was total mayhem last time.

After DECADES of bad behaviour, rape, murder, theft, beatings (See US Dept of Justice for stats, like, oh, I don’t know…, lets say rape, black on white, 565 to 1 and that AIN’T per capita, 50 to 1 violent crime and that TOO AIN’T per capita-the list goes on Tony, peruse it at your liesure.) violent crime and criminal intent, stupid white people just seem to have that fuckin 1000 yard stare.

When the wealth is being hoarded at the top, there is less to go around.

The stats I see on google are not as bad as you post (22%of the wealth was in the possesion of 10% of the population in 2000. Now 2% have 25% of the wealth), but it is BAD!!
You make valid points, but the crap on the Plaza is motivated by a cultural war declared on white people that is, and has graduated to on going hate crimes committed by same.

There should be laws and regulations about wealth accumulations at the expense of the country.
Hoards of Wealth should not become bigger then the country that facilitated the wealth.
Have laws like the SEC ruler that no one can own more han 5% of a public company without filing forms. Do we need that? as some may own too much of our total wealth?

When a country has massive debt, as America does, certain entities who have created vast wealth during these times should help pay the devt tthat was added. Isnt that fair? I am not talking about 2 or 3 million. I am talking about wealth like “500 million in welath” created in the last 10-20 years.
It would fair to ask them to contribute some towards the national debt. I am not saying pay it off, I am saying START WORRYING ABOUT IT!!
Newly (in the last 20 years)Ultra Rich ( 100 million to 60 billion) who made their money in America (wether they are citizens or not) should give back some to the country that helped make them rich.
As a country, America is in BIG TROUBLE. We owe way too much debt to China. We need to stop spending money, and that is final.
China could use the debt as a weapon, so maybe we should to be able to use the wealth of the utra rich as a counter measure.
I am not sure what to do, but something fair.
People/Companies can not make all that money, and then leave America hanging out to dry.

What’s disconcerting is that several of these “children” were detained, but not charged. If they did something bad enough to be detained, why weren’t they charged? And if what they did was not bad enough to be charged, why were they detained?
Between the lawyers with their garish building and the thugs prowling the streets it would seem that The Plaza is quickly going the way of Indian Springs and Bannister Mall. Can Mission Hills be far behind? How soon before the first mansion is converted into a section 8 apartment house?

Anyone can be detained at anytime and held for 24-48 hours without being charged with a crime. If no charges are pressed, you are released. It is worse in other countries, and it is getting worse here.

This really wasn’t a unemployment or class warfare deal.
I was the guy that showed up at Jardines and told Tony and Hearne what was unfolding on the Plaza. So I saw much of it from P Otts. I walked P Otts to Jardines so I obviously wasn’t too concerned. These really were just children. I’d say 11 to 15 year olds. I didnt see any kids that looked even 16. So a lack of employment wasnt really the issue. I’d say lax parenting was.
But I was doing the same kind of stuff when I was 14. We just didn’t have texting, twitter and such.

Dexter, you damn right! If it comes down to me or my loved ones getting robbed or attacked by a “flash mob” I’m throwin’ the lead. I’ve got a conceal carry permit and I’m well trained in the proper defensive use of firearms and knives. I also know what the limits of the law are regarding the defense of my person and property. You go ahead and call 911 while five or six “children” are stabbing you or kicking and beating your wife or children into some vegetative state.
How are you going to respond if you find yourself in that situation? Think about it. You gonna run, yell for help?
Doesn’t matter if it’s The Plaza, Westport, Power and Light, Zona Rosa, The Legends, River Market, etc. If you go out at night and don’t have some type of weapon to defend yourself along with some ongoing situational awareness something bad is going to happen to you sooner or later. At a minimum buy some mace or a stun gun for yourself and your wife or girlfriend.
Next topic. The Star’s version of this story was very sanitized, almost like a non-event. What’s up with that? Are they really that far removed from reality?

HC: The reason he calls the Star story “sanitized” is the newspaper missed about three-quarters or more of what actually happened. It appears the Star had nobody on the scene – or very late to it at best. And whoever spoke with the police didn’t ask the right questions. Like where and how it all started. The Star failed to report that the crowd was African American. That arrests were made but the kids were released to their parents and not charged. The crowd at the park the Star reported on was at the tail end of what had started two hours earlier when police were called to the Cinemark Theater by Plaza Security. Security who were unable to control the crowd. Plus the kids took over some of the outdoor patio dining areas, remember? Police were called to Cheesecake courtyard, for example.
I spoke with the KC Police Sgt. who responded to the scene. Interviewed him at length around midnight immediately after he returned from the Plaza.
The Star story did raise some other questions which I’ll address later today.

HC: My no harm, no foul was a comment on the kids being released to their parents w/o being charged. As adults – absent the fear of racial tension – they likely would have been charged. My eyewitness saw one fight break out. People were cuffed and put in paddy wagons. The kids fanned out all over the Plaza wandering awkwardly and aimlessly. That the Plaza appeared pretty dead otherwise when I drove thru around 11 p.m. was probably a blessing. It did make for a rather uncomfortable scene for run of the mill Plaza patrons, is my take. You had to be there. Or read an accurate account of what went down. Neither of which would appear to apply to the Star’s coverage.

I’m gonna rephrase one statement I made:
“I didn’t see any kids that looked even 16” I’ll change the ‘any’ to ‘many’. I’m assuming that most were being driven to the Plaza and one would assume that’s 16 or 17 year old drivers.
Just because the range was 11-15 doesn’t mean they averaged 13. I’m just contending some seemed as young as 11.

Hearne good story, yes its scary on the Plaza when hundreds of black youths are walking around seemingly with nothing to do, but start crap…and they always do. Sad but true. Oddly Westport has had a quiet summer with the young thugs and their business is up a bit, alot because of lower crime and less headaches.
As far as the Plaza being protected by the Star, thats been the case for along time. It is our crown jewel.

We were there that night. We left Capital Grille and were at the stop light by cheese cake factory when a bunch of young teens WHITE AND BLACK..ALL IN WHITE TEE SHIRTS, ramsacked the court yard. I WILL NEVER AGAIN WALK AROUND THE PLAZA AT NIGHT KNOWING I MIGHT GET JUMPED BY A BUNCH OF TEENAGERS! It has nothing to do with “white people panicking” A bunch of kids “hanging out” wouldnt all be dressed the same, causing fights, and ramsacking the Cheese Cake Factory! If its past dinner time you should NOT be aloud on the plaza under the age of 21. WHITE OR BLACK!
