“So was the Wizards winning goal really a goal? No way, says one online poster who identified himself by name as having worked for the Wizards at Arrowhead in the team

I meant to have a question mark on my first comment–“Not a goal?”

JayhawkTony, it’s actually precisely the OPPOSITE of the NFL – the ENTIRE ball must cross the ENTIRE line for it to be a goal, or for it to be out of bounds, etc.

As to the significance of this win, there really is none. Yeah, the Wizards defeated Manchester United.. In their preseason form.. Big f-ing deal…..

The real significance of this match was not in the result, it was in the attendance. To get more than 50,000 people for a soccer game is outstanding. Kudos to the Wizards’ owners for making it happen.

Young team or not Man U is one of the best teams in the world – allegedly – and even their subs are supposed to be far superior to U.S. teams. AND the Wizards subbed as much or MORE than Man U. So with that said our second and third string beat them. Suck it!

JayhawkTony, the whole ball has to go over the line, I think it was close, but didn’t appear to me that the ball fully crossed the line. I think someone needs to check the salaries of the players playing at arrowhead. I bet Man United at least doubled the payroll of the Wizards.

Makes ya wonder where JayhawkTony learned about soccer, in Kansas?

Kcredsox is correct…the WHOLE ball has to be over the line for it to be a goal or out of bounds, etc……

The Chiefs would have CRUSHED the United in a game of real football.

Meaningless exhibition designed for seeing how younger Manchester United players would hold up in a real game and for the Wizards to sell a lot of merchandise to unsuspecting fans..I doubt if the Manchester United players are losing any sleep over losing to the Wizards with the EPL season just weeks away..also the entire ball must be over the line to count as a goal..not some imaginary plane like in the NFL..

So, the best soccer team in the world is bitching about the validity of an exhibition goal on their website – and we’re insecure?

The ref has the final say. If he called a goal then it is a goal! Man U played some of the number two players along with the third string. Which proves KC(along with the rest of the MLS) has enough skill to compete with the Barclay League. Maybe not in the top spots, but above relegation.

Hey T, after last night I wouldn’t say the rest of the MLS can compete with the Barclay League. Makes you wonder why there wasn’t a Wizard on the MLS All Star team.

Keep in mind Donavon and alot of the other bigger players played the night before in the CONCACAF Champions League for their respective teams. That’s why players chose not to play or looked sluggish.
