GH: The most telling reason the Big 10 chose Nebraska as their newest dance partner over Mizzou or Kansas is the fact that tens of thousands of Husker fans will shell out $40 to watch their football team beat the dog out of mutts. NU will sell more PPV to those awful games than MU, KU and KSU could sell combined to their non-con schedule. I

i think the conference revenue split in the big 12 is more than a tad overrated. for example, the kansas athletic department takes in about $90 million in total revenue a year. that’s $10 million more than nebraska and more than notre dame. so i really don’t think that texas getting a projected $5 million or so more than kansas from conference distributions is that big a deal, especially when ku, k state, etc. will likely wind up with as much conference money in an unequal ten team allocation as they would have in an equal twelve team allocation.

the bigger schools like texas generate far more money than schools like kansas state for a lot of reasons like ticket sales and alumni donations. yeah, the conference money is a part of it, but a relatively minor part and certainly doesn’t perceptibly swing the balance of power.

GH: I think that was kinda my point.

I know…but my way made it sound so much better for the rest of us.

Wonder if they’ll offer those PPV games en espanol for all the meat cutters from Mexico who will soon be a majority population in Nebraska? That will make NU the destination school in the BIG TEN for degrees in English as a Second Language.

Would be nice if the the Big XII-ers would open up a can of whup ass on the Huskers this year. You know that Texas is gonna try and lay 100 on ’em as a parting gift.

Quoting a dude from the Platte County Landmark? WTF Greg! Are things that bad?

If I was jojo I’d be pissed. Getting passed over by a guy from the PCL. That’s like picking Ryan Leaf over Johnny Unitas. You really know how to hurt a guy Greg. The last bit of validation that jojo needed and you shoved the ben-wa’s up his rectum….C O L D!

On the subject of the Tubinator…who lasts longer, Tuberville or the Big 12? Big 12 — hands down. Tuberville better hope the Leach lawsuit doesn’t reach seven figures in settlement costs.

On the subject of Nebraska and the Big 12…what exactly did Nebraska do in Big 12 years to distinguish itself from the rest of the Big 12 North?

From what I have read and heard KU might have ended up in the PAC 10 if Texas A.M. had gotten there way or possibly the ACC the Big East at worst. All BCS schools and if the Big East had happened KU probably would have gone in with KSU and MU so ISU and Baylor (because Texas Christian said they couldn’t join there league) were the big winners no doubt with Tejas.

PT..I’d go with a National Championship for Nebraska in 97 (coming off 2 others in the previous 3 years). And I’m certainly no big fan of the Huskers.

Moved to Nebraska in ’79. Left as soon as I graduated from high school. I’ll root for Texas schools and K-State to beat Nebraska for the first time in my life this year.
“When reached for comment, Texas officials were deep-sea fishing on a 100-foot yacht off the Canary Islands, and Baylor officials were trying to plug the hole in their air boat”
Then, where is Kansas and Oklahoma, since, according to Blair Kerkhoff, both received more income from the Big XII than Texas.

As a KU fan, I’ll miss NU but as a fan of college football, I look forward to seeing NU play Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and the like.

Kevin Kietzman is never entertaining. He thinks of only one thing, raking in as much moola as he can. He will say anything, whether he really believes it or not, for ratings. He’s the Glenn Beck of sports radio, which Kietzman will probably take as a compliment.
