…and Sherron has been all over twitter up to the draft. He was also doing a lot of live Ustreaming. No word from him since the draft…but to say he’s been inaccessible isn’t entirely accurate. He just wasn’t accessible because he though he had moved on to bigger and better things. That’s why you can’t lose to Northern Iowa.

Lots of quiet St. Louise fans in the stands Sunday. It must suck to drive over to KC for the weekend and lose 2 out of 3 to us.

You could have said something positive,
    for instance;
“2 Jayhawks go in the lottery round”
but NOPE, none of that positive talk from you,
    always the negative …..
    ALWAYS THE NEGATIVE WAVES.

You are such a sad lil pathetic thang. Oh well …. sigh …. here is to hoping several birds crap on your head and your car everyday this summer….. that should make your days the way you like them …. unhappy, sad and pathetic.

The thing I think about Collins is simply: the kid wins.

It’ll be tough to find an NBA team who’ll appreciate an undersized overweight field general. But a few of ’em need someone such as Sherron.

He got a lot further in college ball than his tangibles would predict. I can’t bring myself to predict NBA success for Collins. On the other hand, I won’t be all that stunned if it happens.

Sherron Collins probably is hidin’ from the loan sharks. You know he’s been spending like a baller thinking he was going to the show. Can’t live a Rolls Royce lifestyle on a Kia budget homey. Better brush up on “you want fries with that?”

KC will not get any WC games. I really doubt the 10K number at the P&L. We are not a very international friendly city when it comes right down to it. We don’t have the kind of public transport necessary to move around the uber fans. Hell, multi-lingual signage alone will cost close to ten million dollars.

Soccer in the US will NEVER elevate to the international level. By the time our best futbol players are done playing in college their International counterparts have been kickin’ it for 4 or 5 years in the Premier League. The rest of the world turns boys into men on the pitch. We turn boys into World Cup soccer analysts.

Nick Wright is off the charts delusional. His window of opportunity to chase 15 minutes of fame is closing. He is just not entertaining.

No world cup games for kc. Delusional hall

heard only 40,000 seats sold for manchester.
If they can sell that out…maybe…but soccer
is oneo f the most boring long games ever

‘that can help him get a tryout…a bench seat..
can help him get something in the nba so I think
things will work out good for the guy. And noone

    GH,

Between you, Kietzman, Nick Wright, Keegan, Van Gundy, and the thousands of KU haters in the city, there’s a lot of reveling in Collins not getting drafted. Why? I don’t understand it.

(Van Gundy’s a chump. Cheap shot. Collins may not be Chris Paul, but Collins’ fire and drive on the court is very similar, which was Aldrich’s point)

If Collins never dribbles a basketball again, I’ll still have the greatest memories of him as a Jayhawk. He’s on mine and many other Jayhawk fans’ top-5 all-time Jayhawk list. And he ain’t ever leaving mine. The guy is a fighter. A stud. A player. I’ll never forget his effort in the Championship game. Or his many games like Baylor last year where he willed KU to victory. Or his 3 victories against the Wildcats. The guy’s fearless.

As for the U.S.A. soccer game. The New York Post summed it up PERFECTLY on Sunday.

The headline…with a picture of a disappointed U.S. player laying on his back and hands over face….said,

    “This Sport Is Boring Anyway.”

GH, great take on Collins absence portending a lack of preparation on his part for a life without significant financial renumeration from basketball. There are 60 or so players drafted or signed to free agent contracts by the NBA. There are literally multiple thousands of players to draw these 60 from, considering the international leagues as well. The NBA is about multiple tooled players, especially the guys that played-out their eligibility. Collins ain’t that – not anywhere close.

Collins was a good college player that was in the right place, in the right program, surrounded by the best players that he could have ever dreamed of playing with. THAT is why he won the games he did and the number of games he won is the only reason KU fans hold him up as being something super special. Jacque Vaughan was a more complete player, and his pro career (12 years) showed it.

    Ptolmey,

Had the ’97 team had Collins instead of Vaughan, Roy would have a Championship ring with “Kansas” on it.

That ’97 team, as well as too many other great Kansas teams the past 20 years, got scared and tight in the post-season.

You and others can say all you want about Sherron’s negatives. None of that changes how much Kansas fans LOVE Sherron the player. In my lifetime, I have a hard time thinking of a KU player I liked watching more than Sherron, Danny Manning excepted. For sheer watch-ability and entertainment, I’d pick Sherron slightly over Cedric Hunter, Ron Kellogg, Rex Walters, Alonzo Jamison & Jerod Haase.

I’m never suprised at all the folks who just pull for guys like Collins to fail. He was one of the best in college and now may not have a shot in the NBA, I feel badly for him as we all should. I like to see decent people win, hope he lands on his feet.

    Craig,
Are you serious? You feel badly for a guy that has taken for granted his god-given talent and eaten his way out of the draft? I’m sorry but you couldn’t be more wrong. And you know what I have no problem pulling for a guy to fail when he has neglected every opportunity given to him to take control of his own destiny and work his ass off to get drafted. He is lazy and undisciplined. He has only his self to blame and it’s a shame when (insert athlete here)wastes a great opportunity. But it’s noone’s fault but his own.

live by the ratings, die by the ratings. it’s never good karma too mention how great you are according to this months ratings. if you are great, people know it and don’t need to be told. if you start telling people how great you are, they start wondering why. do your job consistently, day after day, and the ratings will be what they will be. the sound of someone puffing their chest is usually followed by the sound of freshly chewed humble pie.

I don’t know him personally so maybe he wasn’t a great guy? I know one of his live in gril friends, who was a sweet gal from this area..she spoke well of him other than having a kid or two out of wedlock and too young for all that….so maybe I was wrong about his character….he did gain lots of weight…but I am just not sure of what kind of guy he is or was, Self liked him.
As far as the bet, sure hit me back and we will work it out, remember its for the year not the month on KK vs. Nick.

    Ptolemy,

My point was, I’d take Sherron over Jaque Vaughan to be KU’s point guard for 4 years, no matter who the hell is coach.

I liked Jaque, but he wasn’t a scorer like Sherron.

Try to dimish Sherron all you want. I could give a shit. The guy was a baller. Plain and simple. I take a Sherron Collins every freaking year on KU if I could.

Cliffy you dumbass I’m not going to let you get away with that comment, just like I didn’t the first time. HE SAID OTHER THAN LOSING HIS CHILD, THE LOSS TO NORTHERN IOWA WAS THE WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE. That’s not comparing the loss to the loss of his child. Go back, get the damn quote and post it word for word. Either you’re stupid or you’re lying here. Pick one and less us know which it is.

come on Steveo, you should understand the trolls by now, esp these MoronU type of trolls.

These goofs are so out of their minds jealous of the success KU has had (and will have) that they are unable to restrain themselves.

No matter the story regarding KU ( good, bad, school rating or even the weather in Lawrence ) they will chime in to spout some drivel, even if they have to rewrite the facts. I find it kind of amusing now. Even when two of our players are drafted in the lottery round, they instead focus on a player who was not.

If you read the KC star online commants, you will notice that more KU haters are attracted to stories about KU, than KU people are.

Heck, on time I saw a story about “circle K stores”, and the MoronU types showed up to chime in about how much they hate K U. It is funny how unhappy they are, the hate is strong with them, and hate and negative waves breeds negative things.

I am still grinning happy about our 1988 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, it feels so good : ) It seems we are locked an loaded again … for years to come …. it is so much fun.

It is sad about MoronU. It is sad that jrBig12 MoronU continues to do stupid, embarrassing things; from Paige Arena to the cotton ball racist to being patsies to the Big 10 in luring Nebraska. It seems that MoronU can not refrain from stupidity.

They wish they had a program strong enough to sell out games so they could have a ticket scandle, it is funny.

Who knows?? …. maybe they are be cursed. Did they build on sacred indian burial ground, or something?

I almost feel sorry for them, almost.

    3. Ticket scandal.
    3. Simon bar Sinister’s retirement.

Life ain’t fair boys and girls. Maybe they should teach that concept in college. The world is full of people that “coulda been contendahs” in all walks of life. Sherron is not an NBA quality baller. If he was he woulda got drafted. Shit happens, clean it up and move on.

You wanna be a REAL badass Sherron. Join the Marines and go kick some Taliban ass.

Won the Big 12 Tourney title
Have a great new football coach coming in
    Another great BBall recuiting class
2 players taken in lottery round

    ummm……
MSNBC rates Lawrence as one of the best college towns

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37643267/ns/travel-destinations/

Doors are open to KU Basketball starting thier own TV network.

KU Basketball makes the March tourney, AGAIN, KU now holds the current consecutive appearances record.

I could go on … and on … and on …. and on …… but, yawn … I dont wanna make you pathetic goofs feel even worse about yourselves. Keep on hating, it is amusing.

It was a bad year for KU. Yet it was still better than Mizery’s year which just ended in the most embarrassing way possible…getting rode hard and put away wet by the Big 10. That, of course, coming after you lost your prize basketball recruit. For all your talk disparaging Sherron Collins, he’s now a college graduate from a school ranked ahead of yours in USNWR!
    _______
I know they speak nonsense but that one thing Cliffy keeps referring to bothers the hell out of me. He never equated his kid’s death to a basketball game. There’s nothing wrong with him saying losing that game was the second worst day of his life. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t. If he would have said it was worse than losing a child, then you can bust him on it. Didn’t happen.
