Across-the-board cynicism and disrespect, both by the media and university big shots. Petro may be optimistic about the Big 12 Lite — or Big I/Little IX, as I prefer — making it five years before folding. What was SNAFU previously is FUBAR now.

Please Big 10! The area code in Columbia is 573, starting calling and get Mizzou out of this monstrosity. You’ll be rewarded with a couple of good TV markets and a loyal — and likely grateful — fan base (we’d even ditch out loud-mouthed Guv if the Lite Guv wasn’t such a whack job).

MU will forever be known as Texas’ bitch. But what did we expect with leadership from Forsee?

Ask Penn State what the first five-years in the Big 10 were like for them.

I’m sure the rest of the not-so-Big 12 will pray for the blimps to crash into the stands when MU and NU play.

Don’t you bushwackers get it? The Big 10 does not want you.

If everybody wants to blame Missouri, fine. Mizzou officials questioned the revenue sharing structure and said they would do what’s best for the university. They had the audacity to publicly question the big, bad longhorns.

As Mocrash indicates, our pin-headed governor probably did the most to piss people off by basically saying Big 12 academics were inferior to the Big 10. Dumb thing to say publicly. Just dumb. And I see he’s opening his mouth again today. Just STFU, Jay.

Everybody better be keeping close tabs on their options, because this conference won’t last.

So the Big 12 just bowed down and kissed Texas foot. Must be nice to be the Big Dog. And the way Mizzou has been criticizing NU & CU you would think they were a powerhouse.

Cliffy, I don’t know if I’m on drugs or you are, but I keep agreeing with stuff you have to say. MU was right to question the revenue arrangements and the bowl assignments, but I think that doing it publicly may have been a blunder. And I agree with you that Jay Nixon seems to have done the most damage with his comments, but, as an outside observer, I think the comments of a governor (and booster) actually are allowed to be considered by the representatives of the otehr schools in the conference. It’s unfortunate that he said what he said, but he is really lucky that the Big XII was still around because I was hearing that if the Big 10 didn’t work out, MU’s next best option might have been the SEC and I wonder what Gov. Nixon would have found to say about the academics in THAT conference had MU been forced to join it.

In the end, I don’t really “blame” Mizzou because they just said what everyone else was thinking. I think Nixon’s comments were far worse than anything Alden or Forsee said. I do think, though, that MU’s very public flirtation with the Big 10 preciptated a lot of this. It may well have happened anyway (hell, it may STILL happen anyway), but MU did sort of send everyone running for cover. I mean, when jojo says something is gonna happen, you can bank on it, right? And we know he had SOURCES (and also that I am a looser/lozer/loosseer/etc.), so if jojo reports it, you’d better run for cover. Still, while I think MU preciptated it, there was a lot of other stuff, like Kietzman’s ridiculous reporting (where have you gone Old Man Kissell?) and UT’s obvious desire to cement its role as the swinging dick. Although MU may have been a major factor in starting all of this, no way it’s all MU’s fault.

Nebraska and Texas are a couple spoiled bitches.

Missouri looks out for their best interests (a la UT and NU) and they get cast as the dip shits that ended the big 12.

Missouri — Know your station in college sports. Texas will tell you what you can have and you will be appreciative and respectful. NU will see you trying to improve your situation and take it from you, but that’s fine because they are more deserving.

still..no matter how you put it…MU will
bolt. It’s just a matter of time.
Plans are already under way to begin some
work at the stadium site and it will happen.
And when it does…and I can’t say exactly
    when…but when it doess happen…then
    the BIG 10/12/8/5/6/9/11/3 WILL FOLD….
Nixon is right. Academics are the future for
these universities. I still wonder where all the
ad dollars are going to come from for all these
massive, huge garganatuan tv contracts all these
    leagues/teams are expecting.
I can say those dollars aren’t there.
Who will be the major advertisers to kick in
millions of extra dollars on the big 12
tv networks. The big 12 should set up its
own network asap…make money on subscritption
    rights…
    BUT IT WASN’T TODAY….IT WON’T BE TOMORROW…
IT WON’T BE NEXT WEEK…BUT MU IS GOING TO
BOLT. The people there have determined that
the future of that university rests best as
a part of the big 10 but after the dust settles
and people calm down…I can say that MU will
    move on down the line.
It’s about money. And probably the university
decided that more money can be generated moving
the school to the big 10 from other income
streams than just athletics…something is driving this and eventually we will find out
what that is. MU is still not satisfied with
the additional revenue they will receive to
stay in the big 12…something else that the
    curators/governor/adminstration know is making
them believe that the real future lies within
the big 10 and not the big 12.
    Stay tuned….more to come.

Gavin: thank you for giving me more credit
than I deserve. You write more about me than
even the radio/tv/internet gurus who are
paid to report and analyze these things.
Thanks for mentioning me in the same posts
as people like BEbe/KK/Soren. I am an amatuer
at this. Just a business owner who enjoys
the internet. I’m not paid but I do have
great contacts and even though my timing may
be off on my third prediction (as you can
read my first 2 were correct) I believe that
over time the league will split and MU will
be the final straw in the dismantling of the
    big 12.
Thanks for all of you mentioning my posts…
I am not paid to do this…just providing
update info from my sources who continue to
    give me important information.
IN due time…you will all be shaking your

i gotta hand it to you, jojo, most guys, when their credibility gets hammered, would apologize for being a dick and at least act contrite. You, though, recognize that you never had any credibility to begin with and figure that your squandered chance at it shouldn’t prevent you from making ill-informed, sub-literate predictions about any ridiculous thing that crosses your “mind.” Don’t even mention that all the stuff you guaranteed hasn’t happen, just keep predicting that it hasn’t happened YET. That’s the way you do it.

By the way, did you grow up under overhead power lines or maybe have drinking water with an exceptionally high mineral content? Did either of your parents work in a pesticide or fertilizer factory? Were you the bogus missing link at the 1928 World’s Fair (I can’t be the first to ask)?

jojo, I write about a lot of things. Let’s not asume they’re all critical or of some great significance. I still remember the clowns from the circus my parents took me to when I was a kid, but they didn’t have any great effect on me as an adult except to serve as a mental image of you when I see your grammar-free posts in this space.

Still waiting for you to be right about something, jojo. But, like my wait for your race against Greg Hall and my wait to see you pay off your $1000 wager that MU will be in the Big 10, I suspect I will be waiting quite awhile.

JoJo its funny that you think MU is important enough to shake things up in the future. As if they were significant enough to do that. They are fucking pathetic. They’ve never won a significant national title in anything at all, never set foot in a final four game in basketball, and never even won a big 12 championship in football. Fuck those sorry ass losers. Jokes on them for trying to break up the league. Why would they think the big east would want them anyway?

omg, you guys are a funny bunch. Do you read your own posts?

I imagine a box of puppies, siiting in a corner and you all barking at each other … written out in posts. It is really quite amusing, thx : )

I still am not sure what the heck was going on, but they sure are talk about a lot of money, tens of millions of dollars. Do they understand there are people on the paying end of that money? and talking like this may not be the smartest thing?

Those networks are fierce negotiators too, and “someone” may be counting chickens before they are even eggs.

I must say that I was also greatly amused at the powers guy from Texas talking about how he was loyal to the Big12, is he kidding?

This is all very amusing, but only because it seems settled, and for that I am glad, but it is a fact that this greed will raise its head again becasue of the amount of dollars involved.

    Lets hope that someone smart
(and as much as I am still pissed that he tried to steal my coach in mid march madness )
like T. Boone Pickens sets up a iron clad deal where this is all resolved behind closed doors, and not on TV. I respect T. Boone, and I found his video interview honest and funny as heck ….. his sideways jabs at MU at fking hilarious.

In the end this all proved that those azzclowns at espn are nothing but hen house gossip mongers, clucking at every rumor. I have zero repsect for espn at this point, they are a joke.

anyway … I am not really addressing anyone here, and i am awsre that this is TL/DR ….I just wanted to sound off on how I am glad this round of BS is over ( for now ) and also mentionhow funny you are as you bark at each other : )

jojo, how old are you? I ask because I may have been giving you a hard time about being such an idiot. I think now that maybe you were born sometime around 2003. Because that’s when Lew took over the job and that was almost exactly the same time people started bitching about Lew Perkins. If you were born in 2003, then the fact that Lew pissed off a lot of people would actually have been news to you in 2009. I’m actually a KU fan, jojo, so I can tell you this accurately. You didn’t break anything when you said people didn’t like Lew. Lew Perkins has ALWAYS had enemies at KU. He was tolerated because KU was winning and making money. But for you to say that you were exposing “Lew the Conman” in October is like me saying “George W. Bush is unpopular with liberals.”

And your claim that you knew the University would get in trouble for Lew’s treatment of boosters would be a bit more credible if you ever had even an inkling of what was going to do the damage to Lew. Again, imagine if I said, in October, “George W. Bush is unpopular iwth liberals and it will lead to the election of Barack Obama.” Wow, I’m way out on a limb there, aren’t I?

But that’s over. Screw the Huskers. I hope the Longhorns TROUNCE Pelini and his above-average squad.

Smartman, I thought of Hitler and Chamberlain when I came across GH’s trust analogy, but I think Greg is talking about something different. Chamberlain trusted Hitler, which was his problem since Hitler was untrustworthy — and invaded the Sudetenland following the Munich accord anyway. The situation in the Big 12 is that nobody really trusts each other, nor should they, even though they may be (temporary) allies — as Churchill didn’t trust Stalin, even as the Red Army bore down on Berlin from the East. Within a couple of years, what Churchill called during his Fulton, Mo., speech that an Iron Curtain had descended — and it’s hardly inconceivable that Big UT and the satellite states (the Little IX) will experience a similar cold war.

Historical parallels aside, Missouri was well within its rights to seek more equitable distribution of Big 12 revenue, recognizing that it was going to be ignored — or lambasted — and interested in a better deal. The problem for Mizzou was that when the Big 10 tested the waters, MU plunged in fully clothed and nearly drowned itself.

Alden’s been a good rainmaker for Missouri, but he’s not politically adroit.

Greg– Please bring more T Boone Pickens quotes to this site, even when this conference thing blows over. I love it when billionaires speak their mind. T. Boone is ticked. He is ticked at Missouri and Nebraska for starting this mess. The Big 12 needs friends like T. Boone.
Face it people.. KC, OKC, Dallas, Austin, St. Louis, and Houston have a TON of grads from these schools and they want this conference to stay together.

Want some respect? Okay, don’t let the door hit your a$$ on the way out you Nubs. May you show the same mediocrity in your new conference that you showed the Big 12. Shut down the basketball and other sports Nub fans don’t care a lick about and perhaps your football team will move up a little too. Or not.

Not sure Nebraska deserves any more respect than Colorado – which is none. Bye now.

had the texas and oklahoma teams gone to pac

in the running for trhe big 12.
This is just temporary…mu will be trying to

Concerning MoCrash’s comments about Alden. He has done a great job raising money and tirelessly promoting MU athletics. When you say he is not “pollitically adroit” — dead on correct. In other words, when it comes to hardball negotiations, he’s out of his league.

Forsee and Deaton didn’t instill a lot of confidence in me yesterday either.

This big sigh of relief in the old Big 12 North puzzles me. I don’t think this is a done deal by any stretch. KSU and ISU are praying to God Texas stays while MU and KU are are scanning the horizon for any possible options.
