Greg, the cockpit of an Indy car is safer than being in a nuke bomb shelter. Piss your pants all you want and conjure all the images you want of Danica’s sphincter but she was safer in her ride than being on a date with Tiger Woods. At 225 mph she was out of that mess in less than 1 second.

Jack Harry is either pimping for a work comp claim based on lack of mental faculty or he’s truly nuts. Hangin’ with KK is taking its’ toll on his cred.

$4.4 mil a year and Lew can’t afford his own Bowflex? If we could still use the N-Word that would be the best way to describe Lew. Hell, he makes crack ho welfare mothers look as industrious as Condi Rice.

Got back in town to go to the royals memorial
    day game.
The only memory I have of that game is the
94 year old WW2 veteran who fought in the
battle of the bulge in his full dress
uniform sitting in the legacy seat on a hot
    afternoon.
They introduced him and he received a standing
    ovation.
The “greatest generation” is leaving us. What
a shame…now we leave our kids stranded in
a far away war without any way to bring them
home…except those who didn’t make it being
flown thru Dover Air Force Base. What a shame..

    1. BK will sell so much pork that it will affect
the pork market. Years ago, another major
fast food chain started selling rib sandwiches
and they sold so much of it that the prices
for it went through the roof. They sold so
much that the suppliers could not keep up with
the demand. May make your mind go bad but
theres millions of people who will eat and love
bk’s ribs. they don’t roll out a 100 million dollar project without making usres its a
    success.

    2. Jack harry has dementia. I can remember
the last time I felt good about the chiefs.
Maybe jack is losing his memory. But i remember
2001/2002/2003 when the chiefs were an
exciting team. Maybe not playoff but they were
a fun team to watch. The stadium was packed..
people idoloized the chiefs. Jack needs
to see a doctor fast…next thing he’ll be
saying is he’s never been this escited about
    the royals.
    3. Lou the conman is headed out the door…soon.
The papers are being prepared. Blackmail?
I’ll bet the former employee has info to back
taht claim up or they will be doing time.
Lets have lou provide the sales slip/credit
card receipt or check to prove he bought the
equipment. Its that easy. Any bets on this one
    KU fans?
God Bless america and our veterans!

Mad Jack translated: ‘Hey, the Chiefs look pretty good on paper, but if my stellar judgment proves wrong and they suck it’s all the fault of Haley, who shouldn’t have been hired in the first place.’

Sorry, some places I just won’t go, BK for ribs being one of them. Thanks for putting your stomach at risk in service to the public, Greg. You are a braver soul than I.

HUGE FLAW IN KC STAR STORY ON BOWFLEX!

The owner of the company said his company
“loaned” the equipment to the guy.
Then he goes on to say that his company
filed bankruptcy and had no rights to the
    equipment.

    WRONG….WRONG….WRONG….WRONG…..
Not an attorney but this is true…(i think)
the equipment never actually changed hands.
Glass said he “loaned” the equipment. No
exchange of funds or ownership. Glass’s company
    owned it.
Problem is it still belongs to glass’s company.
If in the bankruptcy he did not list this
equipment he may have a major problem on his hands.
This is property owned by the company!
He is obligated to list the equipment on his
assett list as part of his company. If he didn’t
he could be in trouble. Creditors of the company
who weren’t paid can come and in court question
this guy. I believe the $15,000 in equipment
is na assett and if the guy should have put
it in assets and didn’t he might have problems.
Creditors should have known about this…its
a major problem if the guy lied on this.
I think they would have gotten the equipment
and sold it and divided it among
    the approprate creditors.
Someone with knowledge…please look into this..i think theres a lot of problems here
    for these people.

Another outbreak of Toxic Jock Syndrome at KU! Who’da thunk that. Pigs get fat. Hogs get slaughtered. Soooweee Lew-EEE!

Props for trying the BK ribs Greg. I’ve been tempted but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Something just ain’t right about ribs at BK. Gotta be an attempt to improve sales in the non-Muslim “black community” wink, wink. The chicken offerings at BK pale compared to McD’s, Wendy’s, Chik-fil-A, Taco Bell not to mention the straight up chicken places.

R-I-P Jack Harry. We’ll remember the good times.

jojo, you are close but not exactly right about Glass’ duty to declare that equipment. If he owns an asset, he has a responsibility to declare it so that the bankruptcy trustee can decide what to do with it. Not declaring, though, doesn’t necessarily mean he is in “big trouble” as you suggested nine or ten times. First of all, he says he forgot abvout the equipment. Now, maybe he did and maybe he didn’t and I know a lot of guys here wil argue, as they do with Perkins, “This is BUSINESS, man! He needs to know where every single piece of equipment goes. If I ran my business the way Glass ran his business, I’d go bankrupt.” Well, as we know, Glass did go bankrupt. And part of the reason may be that he lost track of lots of valuable equipment. That doesn’t necessarily mean something nefarious was going on. He may have been a bad businessman. So, if he honestly wasn’t aware of the equipment, his failure to declare it is probably not that big a deal.

Also, if he needs to, he can probably make some sort of supplemental filing to list the equipment if that’s what ought to be done.

Obviously, if he was intentionally hiding it to cover up something or to commit fraud, there could be significant problems for the guy. But so far we have no reason to think that there is anything sinister at work from Glass’ perspective beyond the statements made by a blackmailer.

I have an idea that recent recruiting lags

    Cliffy and Greg and ANYBODY….

Seriously. HOW will the pay-the-athlete plan work?

    ___

GH: I don’t recall advocating that college athletes need to be paid. I simply think it is riduculous that the coach, the AD and the university seem to be getting rich while the student athlete gets nothing more than a scholarship — a nice perk but it sure ain’t $4.4 mill. Maybe the answer is that colleges stop charging so damn much for tickets, stop forcing fans to contribute to slush funds to get good seats, stop paying millions in salaries and just plain stop escalating the cost of doing business in college athletics.

  13. Anonymous says:

    smartman
Nick, the pay the athlete plan is called the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and WNBA. Most of these “student athletes” couldn’t get a job that would pay them more than $40K a year. So 1 to 4 years of some modern day slavery or exploitation is a small price to pay to make millions if not tens of millions over a 5 to 10 year career. Plus most of these guys, (and girls) are tappin’ some seriously hot ass that would normally be off the grid for them. There is NO effective way to compensate players in a fair and equitable way based on their real contributions. You’d have to be Jack Harry crazy to think that.

Isn’t this the money shot? A ticket derivative.

(“Dent said Perkins instructed him to take care of the guys from Medical Outfitters.
Later that year, Glass and Patrick Carpenter, another co-owner of Medical Outfitters, appeared at a select-a-seat event at Allen Fieldhouse where they met Perkins’ son-in-law, Brandon MacNeill, who then worked for Kansas Athletics. Glass and Carpenter weren’t Williams Fund members but had been purchasing seats through an associate who was a member. They told Dent they were $5,000-per-year donors, which made them relatively small donors. MacNeill called Perkins, according to Dent, then got off the phone and declared, “the sky’s (sic) have opened.”)
Hey…..I’m tired of blaming Lew…time to start blaming the system.
I have a really hard time believing these 6 employees in dream jobs drawing 6 figures…concoct a plan to steal and scalp tickets for personal gain.
Employees from OKL. hmmm, Are Sooner football tickets in demand…ya think?
Why is there a mindset that only Lew P. could raise the the kind money he did? Hey 2005 was gogo for everybody….NCAA needs a makeover!

    C’mon Greg.

Stop throwing out the fluky $4.4 number. You know that one-year deal was because of some weird and/or dumb retention bonus. It’s not hardly the norm.

Though an embarrassingly high pay for an AD, KU obviously thought it was worth paying Lew the retention bonus as he was able to add nearly 30 million to the athletic budget.

Nick Wright’s comments…and I’ve heard him address the pay-the-athlete idea…suggest that he thinks athletes should get some of the money. So I evidently wrongly concluded you might think the same.

But I TOTALLY AGREE with you that the money being made off college athletes is ridiculous. I love Bill Self, but 3 million?! Really?! I’m glad KU basketball players and football players have nice practice facilities, but do they REALLY have to be THAT nice?

The answer is “no”…UNLESS you want to compete with Texas and Oklahoma and Missouri and UCLA and Ohio St…..etc…

And now it’s become a BP oil-sized pissing contest between college athletic departments.

    Smartman,

I agree. There is NO WAY to fairly compensate athletes. I’ve heard some argue that they should be paid and I don’t understand that at all.
