Sack up white boy. You got beat. You guys at 610 are more than happy to brag about all the advantages that come with carrying the Royals, so why bitch now when you get hit with one of the disadvantages?

And I suggested this last week, but I have to think the Royals would have granted permission to change things up this one time because of the novel circumstances. Maybe they woudln’t have agreed, but did you even ask permission? If so, why aren’t you pointing that out? I understand that you don’t want to trash your business partner by blaming them, but I just can’t believe that the Royals would not have agreed if you had just asked them.

810 scooped 610. 810 is beating 610 in the ratings in every daypart and demo. KK is bad radio. Nick Wright is worse. It’s like watching Oprah and Monique mud wrestle for the last chicken wing. Not much pleasure in it for anybody.

suggesting that 810 didn’t scoop them because the guys at 610 knew but couldn’t go on air with the news is like suggesting that newspapers don’t get scooped because they know but have to wait until the next day to print the story.

to me, the fact that they knew but refused to report is maybe even worse than not knowing. what kind of contract did they negotiate for the post game show where they have little flexibility regardless how big a breaking news story is? if that contract is representative of the senior management at the station, i wouldn’t bet much on their future.

    HALL…you’ve been scooped and dumped…now

on the level of whitlock or po or sam…
not this menial crap about a stgory thats
    as old as yesterdays news.
HaLL..if you want to one day be a big
    time journalist or broadcaster…stop this
small town crap and break some nesws of your
    own…
we want red meat stories like…
why glass is mad at moore…
why the royals farm system is in shambles..w
why glass is ready to really clean house
    at the stadium.
why the most wrhtless announcers on sports
in kc still believes its glass’s fault the
royals stink. The guys payroll is being
misused by an amatuer group of managers with
on the job training. Glass spends the money…
    we’ve got a great park…so why does jack “i
got my job because the guy above me keeled over”
    harry stuill blame glass.
Moores has money..more than many teams…he
just needs to work it better. But I doubt he’ll
have the chance…bucky’s getting ready to move
    in….how do I know….ask my realtor.
So hall…stop the feeding of this feud…
Its so small minded and so inconsequential to
the big sports picture in kc….stop writing old

someday maybe someone will want to hire you and
you don’t want to have your portfolio filled with
    articles about nick wright.
Now…big question…why is haley geting the

    9-7/ 10-6 season for cheifs.
I still believe the royals will put together a
big win streak…don’t know when but its
a coming….hopefully will save some jobs.
    also…major shakeup at adminstratative offices
at the k….noones reporting this…look into

The Royals are awfully bad businessmen if they are giving their rights holders LESS access rather than MORE access.

that only devalues the price of the rights next time. 810 looks like the smart business for losing the rights and having freedom to report the news to their customers.

    Dumb again, Royals.

I’d said it once and I’ll say it again.Once Whitlock quit, 610 should of closed up shop as well.

He was the only one who had a punchers chance in beating KK and 810, and even he wasn’t close in doing it.

After Whitlock, they bring in hosts who are in over their head at the 2-6 hours. Putting Neil and Marty, Chris and Cowboy and now Hack Wright against KK is like putting a NAIA football team up against the N.O. Saints.

Kudos for Nick for his quotes.

He’s right about 810. Their hosts like to make digs all the time about the hosts at 610, whether it be Fescoe (okay…HE does deserve a dig or two), Shariff or Wright.

KK is the KING of sensationlism and exaggeration. It’s refreshing to hear Wright address the childish promos by the Goliath 810.

810 is starting to get a stale-ish quality. KK and Clinkscale occassionally give me nightmare flashbacks of listening to Fortune in his last few years. They’re getting VERY fuddy-duddy. Soren has never been funny, and many times lately is dull and/or a grump. St. John’s show is by far the hippest 810 show, but even he…after being on air for many years…occassionally sounds to be lacking interest. Except when talking boxing…which makes me turn the dial.

Shariff and Wright at least always sound very enthused. Hopefully their content and delivery improve.

610 is awful. Can’t wait for them to pimp themselves as the football channel this fall and air NASCAR instead of Chiefs post-game show on Sundays!

No matter what the white homeboy on 610 says, THEY GOT SCOOPED! Period. End of discussion.

I posted BEFORE KK’s show today that I thought his show was getting stale and almost Don Fortune-esque in its fuddy-duddiness.

Nick Wright’s first 10 minutes were lame, so I switched over to 810 to hear….

KK talking about how lovely the Marina Grog and Gally was…how tasty it was…the crab legs are to kill for…it’s a beautiful restaurant over-looking the lake….suggesting to go there to propose….said he’s NEVER been to a better KC restaurant.

Has Between the Lines officially jumped the Shark?

Hey Nick, I heard the same bit and it reminded me that DON FORTUNE used to pimp the hell out of that place too. I went once about 10 years ago. It’s like Red Lobster with higher prices. Certainly nothing to get all excited about. Who knew KK was a foodie too? He’a real Renaissance man or maybe Rednecksance man is more appropriate.

Contracts are the result of negotiations. If 610 really does have a contract that says that there are never ANY circumstances that can permit 610 to leave the Royals post-game show (which I find hard to believe), then I think they negotiated a pretty bad contract provision. And I agree that for them to use the proverbial “up, them’s the rules” contract excuse is very lame. 610’s effort (1) to use that excuse, (2) to quibble over the meaning of the word “scoop” (does Wright think he’s Bill Clinton over there?), and then (3) to try to change the subject by pointing to a completely different story that 810 apparently got wrong in the past really reflects pretty poorly on 610 in my opinion. Rather than continuing to highlight this, 610 should just move on. They are gaining nothing by trying to defend themselves in such ways.

Nick got scooped. He knows it. He hates it.

KK is stale. After 13 years or however long…it gets stale, no matter who you are.

But…when it ocmes to “breaking news” such as last Thursday, that is where KK and 810 shine.

They go “wall to wall” with coverage, with no breaks.

I’d be willing to bet that if 810 had the Royals’ contract then, they would have punted the postgame, gone to the presser and dealt with the consequences (if any) later. That’s called “begging forgiveness rather than asking permission”, and going with your gut.

Nick will never be able to do that at 610. Entercom is about rigidity, sticking to the script, and the absurd “I’m going to tell you what I think about X in 8 minutes”.

If it’s that important, tell me now. Stupid.

The promo I heard said 810 was the only place you could hear the press conference live … that is indisputably accurate, regardless of your definition of “scoop.” Sorry if that hurts poor Nick’s feelings, but facts is facts.

Nick Wright also obviously reads a lot of Bill Simmons because nearly all of his basketball takes are “lifted” from Simmons’ twitter page or from one of his columns. This is sad and disappointing for someone so “intelligent”

Nick Wright would be a lot more tolerable if his delivery were more polished. I flip back and forth between the 2 stations, and every time I hear Nick, he’s stammering, misusing words, mispronouncing words…just sounds like an above average caller to any sports radio show.

Maybe he’s ranting and raving about the “scoop” thing because ultimately he knows that his station and his show have nothing of substance to differentiate their product from the competition.
