I saw today in the Star where city councilwoman Aggie Shmuckhouse wants to not have ROCKFEST back, due to causing the muddy dirty park. Of course it did, it rained and there were 54,000 fans there all day and night. This is one of our cities best events, money spent from out and in towners in Westport,Plaza, Downtown, etc…hotels full, great show, a KC tradition, NO VIOLENCE, fun had by all…so in the tradion of our broke city, lets just not do it there anymore…it by the way Aggie, shows off the park and city…yes it has to be cleaned up…all parks do after big events…this is no different….our city has almost no big annual events….so don’t let this lady end one of the few…by the way its far far bigger then the 7500 or less people who go to the Plaza lighteing, the ll,000 at St. Pats parade, and thats about all we have so PLEASE, don’t be a jerk, smackhouse….WE NEED ROCKFEST ALWAYS…IT IS GREAT. P.S they will clean and fix it promise.

I agree with Craig above about Aggie. The sad thing is that there are morons in this city who actually vote for her fatass.

Every trailer park in a 6 county surrounding area is empty as can be on the day Rawkfust goes down…nice.

I didn’t go but know six people who did. Other than the crowds being lighter due to the weather they said it was sex, drugs and rock and roll business as usual and they have the cell phone pics to prove it.

As long as the grounds are restored to everyones satisfaction, and I know it’s gonna be tough this year ’cause a lot of grass got snuffed out, that’s all you can ask for.

I’d like to see some REAL data on economic impact. I wouldn’t think it would be any more than a SOLD OUT Royals game. Most of the attendees are local and I don’t think the out of towner spend is in the $500.00+ a day range like it is for a convention visitor.

What I wanna know is did the city collect the 1% earnings tax from the bands!

I’m sure the city of KCK would LOVE to have the event move across the river. The Speedway would be PERFECT and they could shoot for 100,000 headbangers.

Finally, the whole idea of promoting this as the nations LARGEST one day rock festival is bullshit. Paul Simon drew 600,000 people to Central Park in NYC. C’mon, really who ya’ kiddin’ or tryin’ to impress? It’s a big one day headbanger blowout. Johnny and KQRC get their rocks off. Kid’s have fun. That’s it.

FYI, Aggie is not an elected official. Parks commissioners are /were appointed by the mayor.
