Some salespeople are on “lockdown”. Being forced to cold call potential new customers and getting them to agree to sit through a presentation that has been described as “stupid”.

The fact that the sales leadership at the Star believes that newsprint ads still carry the same weight today as they did 20 years is just another example of the organizations failure to understand and embrace change.

The band is on deck tuning up.

Wait, your scoop is that other sites were wrong about the thing that you’re now claiming you were the first to report? And in an incomprehensible “hint” at that? You really want it both ways don’t you?

wow…how much fun is it owning a $5.00 website
and being able to laugh at other peoples
    tragedies.
Wow..how much fun is it when I gleefully write about people who’ve worked for years somewhere
    and they lose those jobs.
How much fun is it when their spouse finds out
they’ve been laid off and there are bills to
    pay.
And their kids…when they get home from school
nd find out that dad’s unemployed and those
kids get scared..and they cry..and they wonder whats going to happen. Will they lose their
    house…have to move…change schools…and
    they continue to cry.
Heck ya…its fun to scoop all the other media
on layoffs…being able to write stories about
people getting hurt…lives in the balance…
    wow…you are one heartless person.
Maybe you can do commentary on the people who
died..make fun of their families who are
grieving…wow that would be fun wouldn’t it
    mr. busybody.
You are one worthless p.o.s. and I hope to meet
you face to face one day. I savor that meeting.

“Tossing out conflicting information from unnamed sources ad nauseam.”

    Pot meet kettle.

A sad old man graps to his last hopes of relevency.

Hearne is the first to report on other people’s troubles and is glad to do so. Sad and fitting I guess. There is a reason all of the radio people hate you. Save two. Make that one. A pimple on the ass of society.

I’m guessing HyVee is next. I was in there this past week and they handed me a booklet of coupons for the week. Losing PC and HyVee in that short of period has got to sting.

Liking Hearne is not the question here. Understand Hearne was let go mostly over money not because he was not doning well. He was one of the highest paid writers at the Star. Since he was released almost all the big money guys followed out the door. Really only Whitlock is left…as far as big name writers that matter. Sure there are a few from the past, but not many…and most of those have taken cuts…

I love the paper and hate to see this..I hate to see anyone lose their job.

anyway JOJO can get fired from this forum?

I agree with jojo – it is not fun losing your job. People being smug or making jokes about others that have lost theirs is not right.

We seem to live in such a PC world today — however, the correctness just doesn’t seem to apply to every group.

My subscription runs out in December. My timing may be pretty good! Not that I want it to happen.

The clock needs to be set one hour ahead on this website. Wrong time posts.

Jojo: Your contributions to the Comments section of this “$5 Web site” are much appreciated. Often interesting, insightful even.
However, they appear far more viable when the meds are working.

P.S. JoJo, you and all the folks who write comments on this blog were invited for free to Hearnes Super Bowl Party at Jardines, I was there, Hearne and even Tony….you coulda beat us all up….well likely not me, but none of the strong writers on this blog like you came..it was fun too, great food, 70 inch HD tv, nice…maybe next time…I would like to meet some of you…I am thick skinned, sometimes, so is Hearne and Tony…Greg doesn’t have to be, he’s the good guy.

In fairness, a Super Bowl is not unique and needless to say many others had the same thing. This invite (and as you said a very kind one at that) was a little last minute. So its understandable that many couldn’t make it. Have a party or an event for readers that isn’t something others would have. Maybe make it some kind of fund raiser. I would enjoy meeting some of the other writers on this site.

And quite frankly Craig I was actually hoping you would win our Chiefs bet just so I could meet some of the other writers at your club. So for me that bet was a no lose situation.

I tell u what in the future when i run across events i think would be fun for all the readers i’ll pass them on and maybe we can meet. No Craig…strippers will not be involved.

Hey…I’ve met Tracy Thomas through this site. So you know anything after that is going to be a let down unless Hearne names me in his will or something or we find out crazy Ray and Jojo are one and the same.

Craig is my favorite local celebrity. He will fucking cut you man. Hearne is just slightly creepy and Tony is a rabble rousing Latino with a massive inferiority complex.
