Jennifer: Smash and Grab at Smashburger

There are two ways I enjoy a burger…

The first is the dash through the drive-thru when a serious beef craving hits and I want to enjoy the messy greasiness in private.

    I stopped by on Saturday afternoon before the NCAA games and had the 1/2-pound All-American cheeseburger and an order of onion strings. The burger was in a word; outstanding. Tasty and hot with a salty-seasoned flavor. Immediately bolted to my top 3 chain burger joints to frequent. Onion strings were also excellent and came with a Longhorn-like orangish dipping sauce. Quite difficult to manage the burger, strings and dipping sauce while driving, though. I suggest eating in.

    What about prices? Can I get a filet at Whole Foods for less than one of these Gucci Burgers?

    Any idea what the meat cocktail is? Why are these burgers so damn special?

    I’ve eaten at Five Guys and have not been impressed. The burgers at Fritz’s in KCK or Town Topic are way better than Five Guys.

    When you have local amazing stuff like Blanc, why would you go to a place like Smashburger?? Esp. if they localize the “KC burger” w/ A1 steak sauce.

    I give it 12 mos. or less.

    Oh cool.. a new concept… make the 80K a year “nouveau riche” wannabes think they are slumming while eating burgers… wow… no one else is doing it… so lame…
