Star Search: Sunday, Heavy Sunday – Sam Mellinger, Come on Down!

From the weightyness of it, today’s Star must be chocked with information…

Let’s see, shall we?

First out with all the ads – this is a ritual of sorts I’ve practiced for years. Wonder if everybody does this? Most of the time, anyway.

Big surprise; even with the ad inserts and section removed

I’m curious Hearne. How do you think you would stack up if someone choose to do a daily take/review of this site and the materiel in it?

I’m just failing to find the point of all of this. And yes it seems like this is an axe to grind. Greg was doing his thing long before he was released from 810 or quit the Star. Plus he covers a couple of stations. Where as you aren’t doing a review of all the area newspapers. Just the Star are you ripping on. I just think you are above that…or at least at this stage you should be.

I still hold a grudge against a woman who was involved in a dismissal from a job many years ago. I still hold that anger. But the difference is I think of her and her actions maybe two to three times a year. Where as you seem to want to keep the Star thing fresh. For your sake. Move on brother.

I’m sure it won’t go on too terribly long. Otherwise, I am enjoying Hearne’s unique perspective on our local rag. I just renewed my Star subscription, but gave it much thought. Man was I able to get the representative to slash the price.

Is it unique or is everyone in agreement that the Star is slipping and sliding?

“If you to let the advertisers run wild like this in an otherwise journalistically sound section of the paper it dilutes the section

Rick, please. I was critiquing on the Star long before (at the Pitch), and during (my time at the Star).. The Star is a big beast – biggest of the big. Greg covers sports radio, that’s his beat of choice. The Star is mine,
My advice: if it upsets you so read this, move on, man. I seldom dine at restaurants I don’t like. There are lots of choices on the menu here at KCC. But I suspect (and hope) you’ll be back. Hey, thanks for sharing!

Seems like this site gets critiqued daily. If I see something I don’t want to read, I don’t read it.

    Give it up…
    Hearne,

I know you have an ax to grind with the Star, but man, give it up with this hammering The Star bullshit. It just comes off as petty, and to be completely blunt, there’s no redeeming entertainment/informational value in it.

Your site can become a destination, but petty shit like this just takes it down a notch.

Also, Urich’s little schtick of a column isn’t all that. It’s barely even funny. No one needs inane DJ blather in a blog. Curling in Wesport in a headline? Okay, how about misleading?
I feel my IQ get lower every time I try to read Urich attempting to bridge encapsulated radio humor into a blog…..similar to an episode of Futurama, when slimy-snail-like creatures latch on to the brains of everyone buy Fry.

He may not be the most positive guy around here, but I’ll read Tony’s stuff and get something out of it, unlike this tripe.

In short, stop the petty, brainless bullshit. Your content (and Urich’s) could be a hell of a lot better.

Seems like ‘hittin’ the Star gets readers attention, so it must be a good idea.

I’d rather he hit Elin Woods. And it would get more attention.
