Believe this Hannah person is an intern, Hearne. And as you know, even a semi-popular former gossip columnists was known to make many mistakes worthy of correction. But back then, there were fewer lowlifes on the web ready to rub your nose in it.

So what if Hannah is an intern? This wasn’t a typo. It was something completely made up. Is it okay if interns make up stuff and put it in the Star? If it’s wrong – it’s wrong. It doesn’t matter if Hearne worked for the Star or not. It’s not sour grapes – it’s just true.

Wow. One line in a story was wrong two weeks ago, and you’re just now catching up with it? You just bashed the Star yesterday for being one day behind – and now you’re “reporting” this? Way to harness the power of the Internet, Hearne!
And, while being incorrect, it was a throw-away line in an otherwise nice, 500-word piece about a local kid. It really had nothing to do with the overall story about this guy’s success. Is that why you wouldn’t link to the story – and instead cherry-picked the one line?

True, if it’s wrong it’s wrong….but that certainly does not mean she “made it up”. She got some incorrect info and did not recheck her source…she’s an intern…that’s what she is doing there…she is learning how to do it right.
