Does anyone know where you can find an article that has the questions Fescoe/Moss asked?

The media needs to give Greinke a break. Maybe since he doesn’t crave the spotlight and big ass endorsement deals he might choose to stay here after this contract. If his staying = no press conferences/interviews, so be it. He’s the worst interview ever anyway.

    Obama is President
    New Orleans wins Super Bowl
North Carolina and UCLA in NIT
    Kansas State #5 in nation
    Frank Martin NCOTY
I saw all of this coming

bschloz … don’t you have to be .500 to make the NIT? NC and UCLA may not make it.

I can take or leave Splittorff, but Hamblin’s comment is unnecessary.

If KSU goes 3-1 the rest of the way, I’d give B12 COTY to Martin regardless.

Nobody cares what Fescoe thinks. Nobody.

Right on GH, Fecoe was complaining all morning about the game being on MSNBC. His quote was, ‘There’s a lot of chatter out there on Facebook from people who couldn’t find the game.’ Sorry, but if you couldn’t find the game you are an idiot and need to take a class in using the guide feature on your remote.

I’m glad the game was on MSNBC because there were not commercials every 2 seconds and they didn’t have to cut away to ice dancing like they would have had it been on regular NBC.

Fescoe will be gone this time next year. Love how he begs people every AM to friend him on facebook.

If KU goes 16-0 Self has to be coach of the year. If not, I’d give it to Frank.

Fescoe? Is that some kind of new drink?

That hockey game last night was awesome. I was surprised NBC decided to put it on PMSNBC, but like you said, I’m kind of glad they did. Would have rather had it in HD though…

MSNBC is high def for Time Warner.

    ____

GH: I had the same experience as Ross — TW’s MSNBCHD broadcast the USA/Canada hockey game in HD. My problem with TW is that they do not provide an onscreen link to their HD channel on the sister SD channel. For example, if I am watching channel 33 (ESPN in SD) why not put up a link for five seconds that asks, “Click here for this channel in HD,” that would take the viewer to channel 1033 in HD. Similar to TW’s “Star over” feature. I think a lot of TW customers are simply not aware that some channels are offered both in SD and HD.

DirecTV doesn’t have MSNBC in HD. Guess they need to get on the ball..

Greg, Most of TW HD channels are the same # with a 10 before it. Your example, ESPN 33 is 1033, ESPN2 34 is 1034, Fox news, 60 is 1060. Local channels are in the 1400’s. Pretty simple.

    ___
GH: Some are that simple but too many are not. What would be simple is if TW added an HD link and removed the heavy math from sports guys like me.

I despise TW for a lot of reasons but not telling me when something I am watching is in HD is not one of them. Sorry, if you have an HDTV and an HD cable box, why are you bothering to troll down in the standard tier anyway?

If KU’s 16-0, Self MUST get COTY.

What if MU beats K-State in Manhattan? Mike Anderson should then be the choice if KU stumbles.

Greg, I agree. Greinke is awkward socially and doesn’t like being behind a microphone. I couldn’t care less if he never uttered a word all year. In fact, I wish the whole team (coaches included) had the same problem….once again Hillman’s saying we’re gonna play hard, be smart and be fundamentally sound….UGGGHHHHHHHH!!!….I can’t take it!

Greg…are there no pics of frankie reading
    a book..maybe watching tv…or even a photo
of him without his mouth open/his eyes
    popping out/an angry scowl?
Come on greg. The guys gonna be national
coach of the year. 90% of the coaches in america could coach all those mcdonalds players at ku.
Frankie is the man. Expect to see him in final

TW Start Over: Greg (or anyone else): does this actually work for you? I’ve found it enabled on about 3 of my 200 channels.

    ___

GH: I have found the same, Hammy. For all the hype about this (Start Over” feature, it appears to be available on very few stations. That said, it does work on the few stations it services.

The Coach of the Year voting is dumb. It almost always goes to the coach whose record improved the most over the last year. If there is no prominent candidate meeting that criterion, it goes to the coach of the best team.

From a pure coaching standpoint, I think Mike Anderson deserves it because Mizzou has no business having the record it does with that level of talent on the court.

I agree – Frank Martin is the Coach of the Year. He deserves it. That’s the only award the K-State basketball program will win this year though.

I would have to think as good as the Big 12 is COTY should go to Self if the Hawks should run the table in the conference…and if not I would have to think Martin is deserving for sure. Martin’s comment about his wife rings of a dude trying to impress his ‘black friends’ by saying the old “A lot of my friends are black…”. C’mon dude, your wife is black – so what?

Hamblin had to have made that remark about Split for shock value only – I mean seriously? The guy just had a serious surgery and was serioulsy ill, is a KC legend, a fantastic and diverse broadcaster for the Royals and the Big 12 and is making his way back into the mix after being away trying to heal up! And Hamblin has to make those kind of statements? Shock value…probably made similar statements about his gma not being able to make cookies worth a shit after becoming a quadrapalegic. Everyone at 610 is either dellusional or spouts off like a moron for shock value…Nick Wright anyone?

As for Zach Greinke, I find his ‘aloofness’ kind of refreshing in a sport knee dep in roid-heads and assholes personally. He just wants the ball on the day they give it to him. Nothing more – nothing less. I’m not sure if his ‘out there’ approach to everything isn’t a well devised act to throw all the media hounds for a loop, to keep them guessing, or give them a bit more to write about. I could care less about his speaking abilities. I think he is a great pitcher to watch when he is on the mound…that is why we watch the game right? To watch the game?

USA v. Canada was awesome to watch. Fuck ice dancing. Let the bitches watch NBC.

Thank god Mushmouthburger and Knight aren’t calling the KU v. Colorado game tonight…

    Let’s assume:

    – K-State finishes in 2nd in the Big 12.
    – Frank Martin wins COTY.
    – K-State goes to Big 12 Tourney Championship game.
    – K-State gets a #2 seed and advances to the Elite Eight.

    All these are very possible.

What’s your guess on how much money K-State will have to pay to keep him?

Coach of Year awards in all sports are just about journalists talking about themselves.

The winner goes to the coach who did better than journalists’ expectations. Always. We should ignore the award.

An example is Mangino. close to getting fired after 5 mediocre years, ’07 team comes from mid-pack, goes 12-1, winning orange bowl. COY Award for Biggin. He gets no big school job offers, no bump in recruiting, and 2 yeras later, after 7 game losing streak, Fired. No job offers thus far for the COY.

As a transplanted Kansan, I don’t have a horse in the race but Self should win COY. The argument that anyone can coach highly recruited players is bullshit. Besides, recruiting is 90% of the game. If he wasn’t awfully good at it,he wouldn’t have these all star players in the first place.

I don’t know what the big deal is about Greinke not speaking to the press on his non-pitching days, because that’s nothing new. That’s been his MO for the last couple of years. Now all of a sudden everybody wants to get down on him for it.

As for Fescoe…there’s nobody more aggravating on KC sports talk radio. Too bad he didn’t stay in St Louis.

I recall a similar exchange between Chris and Cowboy concerning Split earlier this year. They were both very vocal that if he can’t handle the duties e needs to hang it up because he was an embarrassment.
I am not a native Kansan and I do not know the history of Split but in his current condition some of these friends of his need to let him know that he isn’t doing a very good job. I thought his analysis was fine but it was hard at times to get past the accent/speech pattern that he had.

if you find splitts talking bad…turn off the
    channel or move the dial…
hpefully this guy comes back..his speech gets
better and the guy is back full time broadcasting. Go splitt…one hell of pitcher.

uh, it is not called “most improved” it is not called “most unexpected” it is not called “did most with what he had.

It is called Coach of the year. It is given to the coach who does the best coaching job, which includes everything from recruiting to play calling to problem solving and more.

Bill Self, The head coach of THE MIGHTY KANSAS JAYHAWKS MENS BASKETBALL TEAM, is the coach of the year. period.

Some people are so blinded, and such homers that they defy logic, post stupid headlines and edit posts which are against their opinion, in other words, you are full of crap to continue to not give this KU basketball team credit. oh well, your loss.

Bill Self is the best coach this year, period.

WTF does it mean “only if he goes undefeated in the Big 12”, is that supposed to be funny? a comedy act?

I am no homer, if my team ever sucks I say it, but when my team is this good, WOW!!

I have been forced to watch some other teams finish stupid games, waiting for ESPN to switch over, and I wil say this …. other top ranked teams I watch look like they are in slow motion, compared to this KU team. If you watched, without a biased / predetermined opinion, you would see it,,but you are blinded by you hate, oh well, it is your loss.

Who knows if we will win it all, but his team is really really good and only the blind and biased would say otherwise.

It was obvious to me from the start how good this team would blossom.

Self is the best coach in America. He is a Karma-Meister as good as Phil Jackson. But Martin deserves COTY. That award is all about the underdog over-achieving. Martin is awesome. But unlike Mangino– Martin will be long gone from Manhattan before he gets fired for being unusual.
