Bob knight should either go back to coaching or take a crash course in broadcasting (requiring him to stay off the air until he learns the huge difference between calling a game and coaching a game. In tonights game between Ku &am; Texas A&M he kept finding fault with KU’s defense while they were already recovering and making a big offensive play on the other end of the court. Sort of messed with the flow, let alone the action KU kept pushing from all their players, which Knight couldn’t keep up with.

Knight’s biggest problem is probably being uncoachable. For the last 30 years, he’s been told he’d be “a natural” for broadcasting (Feinstein described how he flirted with joining CBS in the mid-’80s) because he’s smart and articulate. Unfortunately, those qualities alone do not a broadcaster make. It also takes preparation and discipline; I see signs of neither in Knight’s work and, — given his status as a “legend” — I wonder how much time ESPN honchos spend with Knight critiquing his work. At most, at least from what I’ve seen, they’ve probably told him to cut down on the fishing stories — but still haven’t had much effect on the fundamental aspects of the job.
This is, admittedly, speculation. However, with many other players and coaches who have gone into broadcasting, palpable — in some cases, rapid — improvement is discernable. Not so with Knight, who certainly has the intelligence to progress — but may not feel it’s necessary (or may think he’s already on the Al Maguire or Billy Packer level).

This guy is a coach…he’s not a broadcaster.
But he does have some interesting things to
say about the game. You took some of his
comments out of context here which made then
seem disjointed but I can guarantee you that
espn with the millions they’ve got invested
in college basketball know what they are doing.
If knight was turning off viewers then I’m
sure theyd make adjustments. Oh…by the way…
the ratings for bobbys games are THRU THE ROOF.

on the road in the ncaa tourney and play
teams much much better than texas (fading)..
texas am (not really a top 25 team)…
colorado (a mess)…and teams much better
than the big 12 teams they are beating now.
it will be interesting to see how the big
12 teams do in the tourney and how
mu does in the nit.

What happens to kansass when they 5 on 5 basketball in the tourney? They’ve become so used to having the 8 on 5 advantage with the Big XII refs that they may not be able to handle a ref crew that doesn’t sit in Bill Self’s back pocket

You don’t go on the road in Tourney….A&M would of beaten you pick it Nova,Syrc,KY, last night. It was a good ball game..A&M lost their legs last 3 minutes like so many that play KU.
Knight would be better if they just let him be Bobby— a screaming-lunatic-certifiable-maniac. He looks medicated…

Turgeon wasn’t whining. A&M did get jobbed. How Cole Aldrich has two fouls for the game is beyond me. He should have had three in the first half, including the mauling of Dash Harris. Everyone in the country could see that, along with the blown goal tending call (not even close) at a key point late in the game. You can also throw in the technical on Turner. I haven’t seen that call all season and I’ve seen Jayhawks (and yes, other Aggies) guilty of much worse. Pathetic.

I’m a KU fan and I couldn’t believe they let Sherron and Cole off after Dash Harris went down. And the hanging on the rim Technical was ridiculous. I thought the goaltending call was fine.
KU will get the occasional call their way, but there are plenty that go against them. There were a few charges missed and a phantom call on Marcus Morris as well.
This team is good and it’s not because of the refs.
