About Those Looming Kansas City Star Cutbacks…

Look, I’m not a party to the planning of rumored cost cutting measures at Kansas City’s newspaper of record…

Not that I wouldn’t be happy to help.

However, last year when

    hearne you muther fucker..taking delight
at people’s misgivings. Taking joy in seeing
    people lose their jobs..their homes…maybe
    even their families.
You are the most disgusting “journalist” ever.
I can see you gleaming with joy pointing out
    who’s staying..who’s getting laid off..and
    who’s getting cuts.
You are the most dispicable person in the
    media in this town.
You never worked for your money…
    GFY….you are a loser.

Why you guys so cold? Hearne is just doing what he does. Clearly there is a lot of interest in The Star and this new form that it is taking. He’s got skin in the game…this is an important site and timely for KC. I say good work.

Of course there is going to be a little schadenfreude when it comes to an outfit like KC Star…I mean these guys have flat buried anything and everything that came in their path for the last 75 years. You think Steve Rose had their attention with his nightly paper!

Now here comes the Internets and some fucker named Drudge is able to equal the playing field of the NY Times, LA Times…etc. in his apartment for an investment of about $250 a month. Some goofball named Craig starts selling shit online in San Fran and the rest is history.

Yes its all moving online and No it won’t be FREE.

    Hearne,
You’re reporting on the Whitlock topic like it’s 1918 and newspapers are a burgeoning media. Newspapers are dead. The Star is just rearranging its deck chairs.

Without having any knowledge of his figures at either place, I would bet my life that Whitlock makes more at Fox than at the Star. Why else would guys like Jason King, Wright Thompson and Liz Merrill bolt for the internet instead of sticking with the Star? It’s all about the Benjamins. And them there internetz have more to give out.
