610 needs Whitlock bad. Real, real bad. As in yesterday.

I’ve always liked Whitlock, despite the fact it looks like he is sometimes contrary just to do it. His Tom Watson article during the British Open is a good example. I don’t really believe that is what he believed. However, I think we are fortunate to have him because he was the only person who would take on Carl Peterson in print. Anybody who would do that I’m all for.

America loves nads. America loves people like Whitlock.. People who have the nads to walk off a radio show on the air. Kietzman frat boys are a dime a dozen. They kind of remind me of Sprint people. They ruled the world… played it safe… and then business Darwin kicked their ass.
The thing I always liked about Whitlock is that I never felt like he let off the gas. He brings innovative thinking every day. I agree with newbaum turk that he does play the contrarian a little too often, but at least he makes a good argument.
Whitlock was an experiment when he first went on the radio. Neither 810,
610 or Jason felt they needed each other. But he now has proven he has staying power.
He only needs to tighten up his words per minute… and he would put a dent in KK overnight.
Between the Lines is awful. It sounds like a bunch of 40 something guys that still hang out with high school buddies and live with their mom.
Whitlock and someone the opposite of him would be fun… Like Clinkscale

Hearne: stop bad mouthing your superiors.
The guy wasnt born with a trust fund and has
had to swork for a living. He’s done great..
    on rome show…fox…oprah…probably the
msot read columnist at the star (if not the
most controversial) and he has readers.
    Thousands of them
    YOu’ve got me/rick/old man/etc. and the
few others of us who comment on your blog.
    Maybe 1400 a month…he gets 1400 in a minute..
we know you’re jealous of all that were and
are succesful at the star..but stop tearing
people who passed you by and who still work at
    the kc star

I actually agree with Jojo. Whitlock is everywhere. This is just Hearne throwing shit against the wall and hoping it sticks.

It should also be worth noting that SI is dead and foxsports.com kicks the crap out of cnnsi.com in comscore numbers.

Whitlock couldn’t carry water for a real sports columnist like Stephen A. Smith, Ray Didenger or Al Morganti.

He is what he is and there’s a reason he is still in KC.

This would be addition by subtraction. Whitock’s next original thought would be his first one. A knee-jerk, race-bating, hypocrite. Other than that, he’s great.

FUN & CLINKSCALE are 2 words that should NEVER be in the same sentence. And Whitlock just goes against the popular thought to get a rise out of his readers. He rarely believes what he writes….but obviously it works. Or else people wouldn’t be so worked up about what he does write.

Whitlock’s been phoning it in forever. He hasn’t written anything original or insightful in years. He blew his chance to move to a bigger market, he doesn’t care anymore, and it shows. Cut him loose completely and find someone who has some passion for KC sports.

Whitlock is a genius. He writes, you read. He talks, you listen.

610 needs him on the air from 2-6 every day. They need him baaaaaaad.

Doesn’t matter if you like Jason or not, he has been and is the face of Kansas City Sports media. Period. Jim Rome,HBO,Oprah,ESPN,Playboy,Fox,KCStar,KCradio, published author…you get the photo…I’ve known Jason for many years, been to his events, been on his radio shows,he is a talent…It would be a major loss for the KCStar and one they can’t afford at this time….oh yeah, he gets all talkin and thats his job…and most of the time, not always, he’s right.

He is the guy people love to hate. He probably gets more negative comments than positive by 5 to 1. If the Star lets him go, I doubt he will go hungry and the star will lose more traffic that they can’t afford to lose. I’ve always enjoyed reading Whitlock and I’m not a big sports fan, I just like watching his readers foam at the mouth.

Whitlock needs to stick to writing, and that’s it.

You are only punishing viewers if you put him on tv and punishing listeners if you put him on radio.

Nobody should have to look at his fat, ugly face Or listen to him struggling to get words out of his mouth from behind the ham sandwich.

CG…you say that Whitlock “is a talent” but at what? Any knucklehead can write something that will piss off half the people that read their stuff. I just don’t get what he does that earns him the money, opportunities, etc. that he does.

Well..at least the personal insults on him didn’t come right a way (jayrod). The small minds usually don’t take that long to come out when it pertains to Whitlock. By the way Hearne, did the Star try to work something out with you?

My bad. I would have posted them sooner, but kcconfidential is not the first site I check in the morning.

Whitlock may be a “talent” that generates readership but he is a sub-par journalist. His writing is unoriginal and lackluster. If I were hiring, I would bring back a serious (and damn entertaining) sportswriter like Wright Thompson.

Jared that was AWESOME…very funny come back. As long as 810 is not the first site u r checkin

Actually the first site I check is http://www.kansascity.com. If this site were an actual paper I would line the litter box with it.

Whitlock is a big reason many people do NOT get the Star, myself included. His racist rants on the Foxsports site and in the Star did it for me. CANCEL the subscription! Well, Whitlock is only 50% of the reason. Hendricks calling me a murderer is the only 50% of the reason.

Jared I assumed you’d be checking the Subway site first thing in the morning.
