If Twitter is so important, why is it essentially an additional outlet for media and celebrities to communicate passing thoughts that are arguably anything but news? And those very few Tweets that may eek out a sliver of newsworthiness, is there not a bigger more accessible media outlet waiting to take the handoff and broadcast to a larger audience, when & if the “story” calls for more coverage?

Twitter is simply another electronic billboard for commentary and brief observations in anecdotal form. There are those who see it as revolutionary, and there are those who see it for what it is – just another billboard on the info highway.

Where the fuck is EVERYONES apology to Jose Conseco??
People ragged and bagged him long ago when he (tried to, no one would listen) told us ALL that this steroid problem was rampant in baseball, but from the owners to punks in the press to the fucking fans EVERYONE, THE ALL told him to shut up/ fuck off. It is just interesting everyone is playing it high and mighty now ….fuck you assholes

    SECOND-
Steroids WERE NOT BANNED when these guys used them, yet every tom dick and hairy wants to talk shit about guys who used them.

    WHAT A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITS.

    THIRD-

GH: Every off season we go through coaching changes and the courting and downright theft of coaches from one school by another… (
NOT AT KU BBALL ) …But the aftershock from the sudden coaching departures of this off season is unlike any I can remember

THIS IS ONE RESON why KU is the best of the best in BBall schools. Coach Self was offereed MONSTER dollars to go to OSU, and he declined. He may go down in the books as one the greatest coashes in history, only time will tell, but when it comes to recruiting he can look a kid in the eyes and say I WILL BE HERE, COME TO KU….. WE WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, and then you will make more $$$$cha-ching money in the NBA draft.

I pity the fool who plays KU next ..
I tell ya … I PITY DA FOO!!, but I have more respect for Nebrask than I do for the jrBig 12 scholls….but still
    I PITY DEM ON WEDNESDAY ; )

I get more news from Twitter than I do from my local newspaper – and I’m not just talking about tweets from Snookie. Maybe that’s just my user experience but I find it much more useful than a billboard.

If Twitter is your source for news, you are what Hank Moody is talking about right here:

I was listening to Fescoe this morning on the way to the office and the Bulldog says that if you think McGwire’s records are tainted because of steroids then you have to think that Babe Ruth’s records are tainted because of the color line since he didn’t have to play against black players. He had similar reasoning for why many other players were also “tainted.” Shut up, Fescoe. Ruth didn’t create the color line and the clear difference is that the color line was, unfortunately lgeal. Ruth didn’t have to commit any felonies on the way to his records. McGwire, though, is a drug cheat and a felon. They might not have been banned by baseball, but they were certainly illegal drugs. Baseball probably should have banned them long ago, but can you blame MLB for thinking “well, they’re illegal so OF COURSE players shoudln’t be using them!”? He absolutely doesn’t belong in the Hall.

Also, Greg, I share your interest over how Tuberville and Gill will perform over the next several years. When they next meet again it will be after a couple of years have passed, so they should be at more or less full strength when they do play.

Greg, any word on how Fescoe came back to KC? This is what we pay you for, you know.

Greg will u pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee stop trying to be Keitzman and creating stories. Their is much to the Charley trying to take the Chiefs job as their is to Jack Harry saying Clark should go after Cowher. Its all bull. Be better then that.

    ___

GH: You might be right. That was a bit KK-esque.

Fescoe was a non-factor in St. Louis … never accomplished a thing. There’s no doubting that 810 improved their morning show with Fescoe’s departure and based on what I’ve heard from him since his return, he will get waxed by St. John, Butkaty and crew.

610 seems to think the only way they can build ratings is to capitalize on being the “official home of the Jayhawks.” While I understand catering to the biggest fan base in the city, it won’t work. Most KU fans probably hate KK, but they listen to him. It’s all about delivering an interesting, compelling product.

A caller tried to challenge Fescoe’s stance on McGwire this morning and, of course, got cut short. He even sounded uncomfortable when Klingler had a different view of the McGwire story. Too bad Klingler doesn’t have a better voice … he’s WAY smarter, and more clever, than Fescoe.

I was listening to the Border Patrol this morning, and SSJ was commenting on journalists asking inflamatory questions at press conferences just to make a name for themselves. Then he said “I know there are people like that, in fact, one of them just got back in town.” Is there bad blood between SSJ and Fescoe I don’t know about?

Why doesn’t GHall tweet? all you do is link to your columns.

Sports Fella has good tweets as does Whitlock. I use one for work, and it’s useful, although still fairly over-rated. it’s a tool in the new media tool belt. some people find it more useful than others. it’s not as good as a well thoughtout blog or column online and the subsequent peanut gallery.

    ___

GH: I tweet to notify readers that a new column has posted on kcc but have yet to take the plunge into Kris Ketz territory. Maybe someday.

GH: So just because the BCS is a joke no college football team in the last 100 years should be able to claim a national title? Sounds like something personal to me.

Actually it is a very valid point of view. The BCS is by definition a system that excludes deserving teams from a chance to play for a title, and is no better than the poll system that preceded it. Does Alabama deserve the title more than TCU because the BCS said so? If you are like KK (and there are millions who are) then you would think that TCU missed out on a chance. And therefore, Alabama is not a true national champion, but rather a BCS Champion.

Yes, it is semantics. But it speaks to KK’s larger point, that the only way to determine a champion is to allow more teams than just two to play for it. Every organized college or professional sport has some sort or tournament or playoff to determine champions, except CFB.

It has absolutely nothing to do with KSU, I can’t even fathom why it would. K-State has been in a position to play for one ONCE in 100 years. Why would this be an issue? I could see it if KK was an Auburn grad, a school that legit got screwed by the BCS system. But K-State?? Please.

Dimebag, you’re kidding, right? Come on, this site has more douchebags than a Tijuana whorehouse. Douchebags are like health inspectors-they may be unpleasant, but they assure you of a clean place to eat. ManD, miss your set-ups. Like Burns with no Allen, Carson with no McMahon, Funk without Gloria, Glazer without Barbie. You see the hair on that chick?
You know she has to wax her blackberry, or she’d have a futt like Weiss. And what’s up with white guys not dating black girls? It’s all pink on the inside. Who’d you rather fuck, Barbie or Roseanne Arnold? Monique’s last name is Hall? Always wondered what Greg and Oleta Adam’s kid looked like.

ppl’s dissection of KK’s “There’s no such thing as a national champion in college football!” comment is spot-on.

KK was obviously talking about the lack of a definitively-earned on-the-field championship that comes about via a real tournament and was pointing out the absurdity of the current Bowl system. I didn’t take anything he said as a way of suggesting that past champions were somehow less glorious because of this… but you don’t like a guy so you are ok with taking something out of context just to make hay with it.

By the same token I think people see things when they aren’t there in regards to Greg and his comments directed about Kevin. I see Greg as an equal opportunity slammer. That being said my guess is he always is more disappointed when a veteran guy like KK or Jack Harry say something then when a couple of newbies like Nick, Chris, Cowboy etc say something equally dumb. But that’s just a guess.

From someone who has experienced football long before the BCS, it was never about one game until the BCS. Even now, while the small conferences get screwed somewhat (though it is easier schedule-wise in the Mountain West than the Big !0) the season games lead up to that one game. You don’t play there if you don’t win.
