Maybe Kansas needs to recruit more walk-ons. You think? Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be able to massage your ego on Wednesday when you come up north. You see, in Nebraska, basketball simply fills a dead time between the end of football season and the start of spring practice. The only reason we sometimes watch it is because it has a more interesting playoffs than hockey. So don’t worry, come Wednesday you can raise your hands and shout, We’re # 10.

    translations ….. to
    durrrr dar de dar ….durrrrr.

I suppose this is what THEY refer to when THEY talk about moron sports coverage in this part of the world.

Oh well, it is not your fault, it is what a Moron U jr Big 12 education will give you.

GH: Crazy talk. I like being undefeated. Losing begets more losing just as winning begets more winning.

LOL, As if you know about winning???? But I know you are an expert loser. You have lost at everything you ever attempted, and that is why you have no fun.

GH: Not quite as much fun when the Hawks are on the opposite side of the referees

…and to “head’em off at the pass, before The Moron U idiot starts spouting foorball scores agains …. lets review the most important score of Moron U’s football season ….

    NAVY 35 moronU 13 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Remember how Ricky Dobbs ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns and Navy manhandled Missouri with its triple-option offense in a 35-13 win over the Moron U Tigers in the Texas Bowl.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA …..AND THEN the next week moron U BBall loses to oral roberts, are you kidding?? how pathetic. I really do feel sorry for anyone who attended this jrBig 12 school.

where was ku this postseason? Where were they
when the fired fat boy? where will they be
the next 5 seasons with no talent? come on…
take the fact tht missouri football so far
    superior to the ku program.
as far as the losee to navy…it was terrible.
But for us we have a great team colming back..
a proven winning coach…and an incredible
recruiting class…and more ass kicking of
    ku for the next decade.
As far as the ku basketball game…this was the
worst game in ku history. They lost to walk ons
and cast off players. I’ve seen quite a few
games of ku but never saw this big of upset.
Tennessee had walk ons/bench players beating
    ku.
If you took bill self and his entire team…
    and added in mu’s energy/drive/motivation/
hustle/hard work/and desire ku would win every
game by 40 points. they just lack that real
desire to work hard. They are most mcdonalds
all americans who have been coddled their
lives. They act as if they should just walk out
on the court and win without playing the game.
I said it this fall and I’ll say it again..
that friction and fight between the ku teams
has had a lot of effect on both the fottball
    and basketball teams…somethings misssing..
but i do expect ku to be a #1 seed in the
ncaa tourney and probably lose in the elite
    eight.
As far as mu victory..I predicted it 4 days
before the game. As a mu fan I’m used to big
wins followed by stupid losses. B ut mu proved
they have heart and will play their asses off
on the court…something ku has failed to shw
    me this year.
I’m sure coach self will probably get this
    ship straigtened out.
    Also..greg…do athleticdirectors sit at the
main table like Lew Perkins did in tennessee?
I havent ever noticed them doing that.

There is NOTHING more enjoyable for a non-KU fan than to sit in a bar among Squawk faithful and watch them lose. It’s like watching an arrogant kid on Christmas Day open his next present and find it to be a pair of socks. They are indeed a unique fanbase.

As for MU, a team that pressures you all over the floor, as they do, should routinely have more fouls than their opponents. It simply comes with the territory. MU rarely ends up in games on their floor with more fouls than their opponents. The officials have been giving Mike Anderson’s team an incredible bias. Last year vs. Kansas, MU had fewer fouls. Against KState, MU was whistled for EIGHT fewer fouls. In a straight-up game, with little pressing from either side, you should see home cooking shining through. We’ve ALL seen that with Kansas in Lawrence. Referees are human. But when one team as a rule pressures you all over the floor, they SHOULD see more fouls called than their opponent. MU doesn’t. If I were a coach in the Big 12, I would start pointing to those stats in the days beforehand and start the officials thinking about it.

    He draws the picture
Facts be known, the whole concept of “DRAWING A FOUL” is kind of messed up. It is like whne you were a kid and your lil brother pesters you until you you shove him away, and he draws the foul, and you are punished.

The name itself shows it is BS…how can one draw a foul??, in its essence, it is messed up…but ….. it is …what it is. ….AND HE DRAWS THE FOUL!!!

I love how people, love to hate KU. It proves we are the greatest school that ever has been, and the greatest school there ever will be.

That loss to Tennessee was a gift at exactly the right time. Here we are entering conference play, when things start to heat up, and KU just got their much needed and overdue wake-up call in a road game to a non-division opponent. You could see this one coming for weeks the way they’d been coasting through games. They needed a splash of cold water in their face like that. Adversity makes cocky teams listen a little harder to their coach, and KU is always cocky and over-confident.

    Poor Nebraska.

    Ptolemy,
Why did you steal my thunder? I wanted to be the first K-State fan to whine about the officials. Dang it, now I’m going to have to talk about something else at 2 p.m. today.

Seriously Pt, do you not see the irony of your first paragraph being about the arrogance of kU fans and then the second paragraph whining about officials?

    – KU’s loss was bad.
    – It was painful.
    – It concerns me greatly.
    – Xavier, Tyshawn and the twins looked scared and hestitant most of the last 2 games.
    – I was equally concerned last year when KU got drilled at Mich. St and the year before when they got drilled at Ok. State…in fact, every year Self has coached, they’ve had at least one major ugly loss early in the season.
    – History says Self gets this team to play how he wants them to play….TOUGH….and that they will once again, win the Big 12.
    – Self’s teams are a blast to watch in conference play…I CAN”T WAIT.

Kietz, pointing-out a statistical fact that Missouri rarely gets whistled for more fouls than their opponents in Mizzou Arena is not whining. KState should have been able to overcome that bias. They are the more talented team. Those are simply the facts.

That and that watching KU fans get bitch-slapped by a rec team off the street is a great afternoon of people watching.

Everybody wants to take one side on the “does a team need to lose” debate. I don’t see why it can’t be a mixed blessing. A loss is never a good thing, but there’s no doubt the loss gets the kids’ attention and shows them they can’t win just by getting off the bus. I think Self, as he has in the past, will get as much out of yesterday’s result as possible. While the loss may not help, this game will not hurt the team in the long run.

I love the theory that Mizzou plays tough defense so the HAVE to foul more. Its like saying a running team in football HAS to be called for more holding penalties than a passing team. Good defense isn’t fouling. Unless Pullen shoves you, then clearly the foul is on you Mike Dixon, Jr.

  18. Anonymous says:

    Tim
Ptolemy…actually you are wrong. Mizzou practices the pressure D 365 days a year in a way that makes it a controlled aggressiveness. As a result, the opponent, who is likely not prepared for it, tries to match their pace and tenacity and ultimately plays out of control and fouls more often.
This is why their opponents usually have more fouls.

  19. Anonymous says:

    DVD
Tim – from what I’ve seen, the refs will usually adapt their calls to Mizzou’s style of play. In the college game, slapping wildly at the ball is typically a reach-in call regardless of whether contact was actually made. But MU does it so regularly (DeMarre Carrol slapped at the ball every time his man had it) that the refs are either forced to tone down their calls against the Tigers, or turn the game into the foul-fest it was on Saturday. Just another example of college officiating being awful, period.

  20. Anonymous says:

    jojo
the reason mu should (hopefully) doe well in
a tournament is that teams don’t have time to
prepare for their type of defense. Most of the
teams in ncaa (non big 12) are so unnerved by
it that it creates serious problems for those
    teams.
If mu gets into the tournament you’ll see this
like you saw last year when they made it into
the elite 8. bigb 12 teams have seen it
    numerous times andthey prepare forit.
KU knows how to kill that mu defense..so does
    several other teams…
40 minutes of hell or 40 minutes orf frustration.

  21. Anonymous says:

    Tim
Slapping the ball is not illegal if no contact is made with the hand. Some teams are just better at it then others.

  22. Anonymous says:

    DVD
No, slapping the ball is not illegal, but like I said, it’s generally called a reach whether contact is made or not. Much the same way swinging downward at the ball while going for a block will likely be called a shooting foul, regardless of whether the player actually got hit.

My point is that MU is not better at it than anyone else, they just get called for it less because their entire defense is predicated on it, which forces refs to either ignore it (but continue to call it on the other team, for whom the reaching is less frequent, therefore more apparent), or start calling MU for about 30 fouls per game. Since they’re generally unwilling to do the latter (because it would turn into Saturday’s game), Mizzou’s opponents get screwed. Carroll alone should have been called for about 10-15 reach-ins in every one of their tourney games last year.

  23. Anonymous says:

    Tim
uh, actually they are better at it than everyone else. Much much better to be honest. Many teams try to, but simply cannot. It’s the great equalizer. It allows for less gifted kids to make up for it with hustle. That is why they are most conditioned team in the league. The beakers look like they have never seen the inside of a weight room. Take a look at Collins for god sake. In Anderson’s program he would drop 30 pounds and wouldn’t be sucking wind like most games.

  24. Anonymous says:

    Johnny Utah
Missouri fouls every possession about 5 times. Kentucky did this in the 90s. it’s brutal, brutal basketball. it’s ruining the sport.

they can get away with it at home, but never on the road. if anything, the saturday game didn’t call enough fouls.

when teams do that, you have to call lots of fouls early, call flagrants, and have a talk with the coaches. the refs let that game get away from them, and it’s a shame b/c it could have been a good game. Both teams are good.

  25. Anonymous says:

    Tim
LOL, like 5 times!! waaa waaa, whiner. Typical response from someone whose team lacks intensity. It’s called playing tough defense and it not illegal. Most teams are just not conditioned enough to play it.

  26. Anonymous says:

    Ptolemy
Missouri plays this way because it is all they have. That IS their best foot forward. Kudos for them. The villains in all this are the referees who allow games to be reduced to these ugly brawls. KState and Kansas need to learn to adapt to that style and overcome it – or work the officials in advance to equalize the effect.

  27. Anonymous says:

    Tim
spoken like a true Beaker fan…blame it on the officials. How about getting Sherron “love in an elevator” Collins in shape and maybe he won’t be picked apart by Missouri’s defense.

It’s interesting that Ptolemy says there is NOTHING better than sitting in a bar among “Squawk” faithful and watching them lose. Not that a K-State or MU fan would have any frame of reference, but I can point to at least one thing a KU fan enjoys a good deal more than watching K-State or MU lose a game (although those things are definitely pleasures).

Watching your team win a National Championship. that is much MUCH more fun than watching MU get drilled.

And then there are lesser pleasures like absolutely owning a rivalry or maybe winning 25 straight years at your rival’s house. Maybe going to a Final Four or thirteen. Those are good too. But nothing beats winning a national championship. NOTHING. You guys will have to take my word for it.

  29. Anonymous says:

66-0 in football is pretty damn sweet — considering there really is no National Championship in football. You guys should try it sometime…wait a minute, you just fired your best chance at attaining that, so nevermind.

HAve you ever won a championship that wasn’t mired in recruiting and ineligibility scandal? We’ve never done that either.

    Morris Twins are Joker Card
I look for T-Rob to take there

They have to get X more shots.
Sherron has to be a play maker.

Morris’s are only allowed to shoot

I respect REAL SCHOOLS, Nebraska, at least they were a football power house, and thier fans dont run thier mouths in delight at every KU nonwin…. but the idiots around here from the jrBig 12 schools, thier only joy in life is being jealous of the greatest basketball school in the country. KU has history, the inventor of the game was our coach, we have 3 National championships, and maybe more on the way. We out recurit everyone. WE HAVE THE PHOG !!!!!!
Kids want to come play for KU …….. and all the jrBig 12 schools can do is watch ,and be jealous … it is amusing ….. like a clown, but sadder. seriusly, meh, epic …

While not conceding the point taht KU cheated, MU fans have no room to gloat given their own history with Dr. Detroit (jojo knows who I’m talking about) and K-State might want to wait before the smoke clears from the godawful death-by-a-thousand-cuts scandal (for lack of a better word) that was the retention of Ron Prince.

Doesn’t matter who they were playing, you said the dude was out of shape. When has he EVER been in shape? He’s been a fat bastard all four years he’s been at Kansas. I guess they hand out All-America honors to fat bastards at the the Old Country Buffet and Collins picked one up next to the green jello.

Like a lot of anti-beakers, your hatred of KU overwhelms your common sense. You need to stop buying into what the media feeds you about “dream teams” so you won’t be so surprised when they lose again. KU was handed a #1 ranking without even playing a game. How do you think that happened? Hype.

It’s been clear for weeks they aren’t as good as they were hyped up to be and if you were surprised to see them lose, that’s on you for being duped by the media and the rankings.

And whichever school you root for – I’m pretty sure if you had some Final Fours and National Championships you’d feel pretty good about it. I’m guessing by your bitterness you don’t have much hanging from your rafters.
