Kansas football coach Mark Mangino may be fat – phat even – and as the athletic director who hired him stated, he’s clearly a disciplinarian…
So what’s the big deal, wonder former Chiefs running back Ted McKnight?
“All the coaches I’ve had were tough on me,” McKnight says.
As for the possibility Mangino poked and/or choked an offensive lineman in practice, “Are you kidding me?” McKnight says. “You’re going to worry about a guy with shoulder pads and a helmet on and the coach pushing him? That’s part of the game. I don’t know if we’re looking to have kinder, gentler coaches, but…”
Football players need to man up and not take things personally, McKnight says. Even at the college level.
“You know, when it’s all said and done, (coaches) give you a pat on the butt and send you out into the world,” McKnight says. “I don’t know, maybe the players are softer now. Football is as physical as it is mental. And anybody who doesn’t know that doesn’t understand the game. There’s a level of toughness that comes with it and if somebody needs to be coddled out there, put him in the band.”

It looks like Hearne wants to be as popular as Hall so he is writing sports stories now. Though I do enjoy the McKnight take. Ted was involved in a great bet of mine. He wears a super bowl ring but I knew he never played in the game. That won me a chunk of change. Thanks Ted.

This Fatman story BS is getting to be like the rumors about The Rolling Stones / Keef Riffhard ….. it is becoming a long time now that you all are calling him dead and gone… balh blah.. he wont go to Texas… balh blah…. he wont coach at Arrowhead… blah blah…Well he is still standing tall…. what you all say now?
No matter happens this week, I like Coach Mangino. For 30 years there was bad football at KU AND Coach Mangino changed that. I thank him for that.
I hope he stays at KU,,,,and lives happily ever after..
