If the pork chops theory of excessive weight=depression=
erratic behavior has any merit then MM needs only to invoke the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act and demand that KU make “reasonable accomodations” to allow him to continue to work. Could be interesting legal precedent. If Mangino does leave Lawrence, when his house goes on the market it’s a must see. The enlarged doorways and bathrooms are priceless. Could be a perfect crib for Charlie Weiss.

Mangino is toast, it’s only a matter of timing. Perkins doesn’t want him, never has, for image reasons largely (no pun intended). Plus, Perkins is just itching to make a big-time hire: both Mangino and Self were brought in by Bohl.

BTW buc, caps and cussing do not make your comments compelling. You diminish yourself by their usage. (You can have the last word, if you wish. I don’t do thread flames.)

It hasn’t even happened yet and Mangino’s firing is already yesterday’s news.

    GH –

If the Royals had actually drafted Pujols, he probably would have been trapped in Omaha the past 8 years with only a few September at-bats to his credit.

To MoCrash Bill Self was hired after Bohl was fired. By Hemminway and Drue Jennings(former head of KCP&L) as acting AD if memory serves me.

Judging from the picture at the top, it looks like Mangino has lost weight.

$6.6 million. That’s about two years worth of Weight Watchers and a case of Diet Pepsi.

Mangino was going to be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but Jimmy Dean Pure Pork Sausage couldn’t afford enough helium to get him off the ground.

I do believe the media is fueling the fire even if Perkins did throw his lit cig out the window and started it. I’ve heard very little analysis about last week’s games and even less thought to this weekend’s match-ups. Some of that may have to do with the Chiefs improbable win but don’t try and tell me the media is completely innocent in the size of the flames. They (the media) love this drama and create a TMZ-ish atmosphere.

Bill Cowher will coach KU before Brian Kelly or Gary Patterson…

If KU beats MU this Saturday I think a plan for redemption is in place. If not, Mangino is a goner. Either way, this has not been handled with any sort of human dignity.

“How unkind a cut to KSU would it be if Patterson accepted the Lawrence job after turning his back on the Cats last year?”

Come on Greg…Your ignorance on this issue is stated as fact. I can tell you with absolute certainty that Gary Patterson accepted the K-State job in principal in November of last year. We had a completely incompetent leadership at the time where the AD and the President were both out hiring separate football coaches. In hindsight, it is good that Wefald won out, as Snyder is the right man for the job at this point in time (given the financial mess within the athletic dept).

“…How unkind a cut to KSU would it be if Patterson accepted the Lawrence job after turning his back on the Cats last year?”

GH – Who precisely “turned their back” on whom? Don’t be so sure.

“How much did KU win the 50 years BM?”

Greg, are you even proof-reading these posts any more?

There’s just way too much bad pub for MM to come back next year. He has been a complete a-hole to absolutely everyone and it shows in the lack of people coming out to support him. And this is the absolute best time to make a change.

SSOOOOOoooo, WHEN Coach Mangino comes back, and does well next year, what you will you hens say then? …..
probably nothing, you will just keep clucking away, it is what hens do. Oh well, it is not your fault, it is the failure of a KSU / MU NONeducation.

Wait. You guys think Mangino is fat? He’s a little big boned, sure. But fat?

    Thought it was Big Motherfucker.

Gav, Lenscrafters is having a special, stop by. It’s the Mangino Special, two for the price of one until the end of the season.

    “Snyder’s last three seasons…?”
    Not there’s an objective statistic!

If Blaine Gabbert hadn’t changed his commitment to MU, that would mean that Cally would still be in Lincoln, Peterson would still be AD, and No-O-Bo would be nowhere close, so be careful how you conduct your analysis.

There are three major P-reasons why KState will likely win the North in 2010 – Pinkel, Perkins, and Pellini.

Jay, thanks for the correction. I knew Perkins didn’t hire Self, but I forgot about the interim AD.

To what extent I’m not sure, but I think Perkins’ ego is fueling a lot of this. Never underestimate the power of ego on decision-making.

Pt, Your 3P theory is a good one. Snyder would be the fave to win the North on an annual basis if he could just recruit the same talent as his North rivals. But that’s an “if” he will battle in Manhattan until the western half of the US falls into the Pacific.

Why do you want to discount Snyder’s last three seasons as HC? WYSIWYG. As you know, I don’t see things changing.

Gabbert could have come to NU and played for Bo. But I think he’s where he belongs. He’s a STL kid who might become the next Tom Brady. I just hope he stays at least through his junior year so we get to continue to watch him up close.

Why is everybody hating on Perkins? Maybe I’m being obtuse, but I just don’t get it.
