Jack: Don’t tell Tony Botello about this movie. A black father knocking up his black underage daughter, TWICE, will really fuck with his mind. This is the type of stuff white folks do.

The core point to me is simple. Why do you go to movies? If you go to movies to escape reality then this film would not be for you. It wasn’t that long ago that we heard about the underage sisters that were used as prostitutes and got venereal diseases. We can turn on the news nightly and hear the latest sordid turn in the incest family where children are being raped, and having sex with horses and dogs. So the incentive to hear another tragic story would be?
The marketing guy that decided this would be a good holiday film is bonkers also. Yes, it will reap its money back and will be a success from that stand point. But not what it could be. And yes I understand they are releasing it now so it can get some Oscar nominations. But sadly it will be out of theaters by then. Guess they can re-release with some Oscar buzz.
I am not a person that is just looking for films that give me a good go home warm fuzzy feeling. But by the same token I also don’t want to see a film that is so depressing you want to slit your wrists.
If you want to see a relative unknown gem see if the film Adam about a young man who has Asperger’s syndrome is available to rent. If you need a true story try Daniel Craig in Deviance.

C’mon Rick. Don’t be such a racist. This movie is all about white guilt. So go see it so the black folks can get some money since the reparations thing never worked out. It’s our fault that this girl got raped and we have to pay the price. Just ask Tyler Perry, Oprah, Cornell West and Jesse, Al and Charlie.
