K-State will not win another game this year.

I guess if you pick against K-State every week you’re bound to be right at least once, Greg.

Confused Greg, in the same blog post you say Snyder won’t be successful because he can’t recruit…then say what a star D. Thomas is…pretty sure Snyder recruited Thomas. What are you talking about?

Again, MOST K-State fans are excited that Prince is gone and are already considering this season a success considering the bottom-third of the Big XII talent the team has, a North title and/or bowl game would be gravy at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cats won the next two or lost the next two.

It’s been great watching the team improve all season vs. getting worse as the season progressed like the Prince teams and ‘history awaits’ KU team.

I would PAY somebody to put Bill Grigsby and John Kadlec in a room with a 55-gallon drum of Old Hooch and let the hilarity ensue….OFF THE AIR, of course. How they continue to let that old fart Kadlec dick up the Mizzou football broadcasts is completely beyond comprehension.

Tiger fan here…The team is young, we knew they were going to be inconsistent. I understand the coaching criticism but I’m not ready to start calling for a firing squad. Concerning to me is the fact that Pinkel, and his staff, haven’t won a game where they were clearly the underdog (I could be wrong but none stand out).

As I stated on another one of Greg’s posts, I believe the Tigers will be leading or close at half and then get hammered in the second half as we’ve seen in their last three big 12 games.

Still a lot on the line for all the Big 12 schools so it will be fun to watch the final stretch.

Greg – I also forgot….excellent post. Don’t always see eye to eye with some of the criticism but I am a fan of the column. I really liked the week you put the schedule up of all the teams…yeah…I’ll get around to finding it myself at some point.

Greg Hall still believes Kansas is the best team in the North. What he meant to say was Kansas had the best offense in the North about six weeks ago. Take away Reesing, Meier, and Briscoe and wow. Best team Greg Hall? No way

    Collective,
Ask and you shall receive — occasionally (as my wife often reminds me).

    Network Time(CDT) Matchup
FSN 11:00 AM Texas at Baylor

Versus 11:30 AM Missouri at Kansas State

TBA 12:00 PM Colorado at Iowa State

ABC 2:30 PM Nebraska at Kansas

FSN 6:00 PM Texas A&M at Oklahoma

ABC 7:00 PM Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

    dp,
TD is a great Snyder recruit (and needs to start going by his initials). The trouble is that Snyder is going to need to recruit 20 kids a year and I don’t think he’s got what it takes to bring what K-State needs to compete in the Big 12.

I wanted KSU to hire another young coach with a great motor and a talent for picking a good coaching staff. They got burned by Prince and went for the safe pick instead of the one they can build a future with. Just my nickel.

I can’t stand Mizzou. That said, Nick Wright’s comment above that Pinkel is an “abysmal coach” is absurd. Wright has no ability or interest in supporting his assertions with facts or logic. How the hell can an abysmal coach turn around a program and lead it it’s greatest success, including 2 consecutive North titles?

    A great coach – no
An average coach – maybe, probably
A great recruiter and poor game manager – yes

But calling Pinkel abysmal is indefensible.
Calling Nick Wright abysmal, however, is accurate.

On my drive across Missouri Tuesday I heard Bob Fescoe the old WHB guy in St. Louis talk about the Tigers. The figure that startled me is that Pinkel’s teams are 1-34 when behind after the first half. With all of the success the program has had you would expect a little better number than that. As someone said before I think he recruits well but is not the best game coach out there. He believes in a system and sticks with it no matter what.

Greg, I really think you are full of it, but I enjoy your column and your responders. Really gets my 70 year old juices flowing. Only time will tell if you are right about Coach Snyder, but I think he’ll probably be around longer than you will.

Anyways, we K-Stater’s are tickled to death to just be competitive (most week’s) and that order has been restored in the Sunflower Showdown.

K-State vs Missouri this weekend, man that’s like the Raiders vs the Broncos. Who do you root for? Who do you root against? Both teams make you want to hurl.

Looks like I’ll be pulling for Mizzou to knock these chest thumping K-Staters down a notch. Damn it Pinkel, don’t shit down your leg again once the game starts.

    GEG,
I am happy to know my OTC assists in your juice flowing. I’m starting to have to stand closer and closer to the urinal every birthday myself.

Debating college football, no matter what your team colors, is a damn fine way to spend the fall months. I appreciate all who bother to read my rants and post theirs here at kcconfidential.com.

    Greg,

    Great takes on this OTC.

KU fans will either be wanting Mangino fired or looking forward to a bowl game to allow their young players an extra month of much-needed practice.

MU fans could be very satisfied after a dismal season with wins against their closest rivals.

K-State fans are already on cloud 9….but risk crashing to earth if KSU loses 2 and misses a Bowl.

Nebraska fans will be wearing their red shirts all winter should the Cornhuskers beat K-State to the North crown.

And Greg Hall….with his bold but dead-on takes on the Wildcats…risks having to post an OTC column kissing the wrinkled butt of Bill Snyder.

CANNOT WAIT TO SEE HOW THIS ALL UNFOLDS!!

greg wrong again..ku will not win the national
    championship this year…too much talent
on this team and too much pressure on them to
win it all…remind you of some other team?

Haters beware of SUH. GO BIG RED! I’ll be wearing my RED shirts all winter whether the Huskers get it done or not. Not too many folks know about pride around here.

Nebraska fans’ pride is no different than the local schools’ fans.

How much Big Red pride will be on display in Kansas City should KU and K-State BOTH knock of the Cornhuskers?

GH: “This current Wildcat thinks of Kansas as the dominant football school in their rivalry.”

Great article but… KU IS the dominant football school in the rivalry, look at the all time record.

This final stand against the oncoming Purple Train is not going to end well for GH.

And for somebody who watches/listens to the local media so closely, he should know Bill Snyder much better. Dude is always grumpy with sideline reporters. Remember his rant against Jack Arute on the field after the 2003 Big 12 Championship game?

You are what your record says you are. There’s lots of football to be played to say who’s what in the big 12 north.

I think KU and MU both win this weekend, which will further complicate things. One thing we can be sure of: Texas will KILL the north champ in Dallas in early December.

College footballs greatest team ever?? HUH?? I can’t name one other pro from that team other than Sproles. Surely they had some first round picks if it was the greatest team ever, right? lol

Oh what the hell. I can’t wait for a new OTC post to rub it in. The fat lady sings in Lawrence and the Cats get pounded in The Little Apple. Life is good! Oh yeah, we’ve got pucks back in Methville. New Arena is SWEET. You will never see the next Gretzky or Crosby there but it was a good time for not a lot of cash.
