Thanksgiving Breakfast Dance Bites the Dust: 30 year Kansas City Tradition DOA

One of Kansas City’s hippest happenings is taking a dirt nap this Thanksgiving…

The at least 33 year-old Thanksgiving Day Breakfast Dance at the National Guard Armory in Kansas City, Kansas will not be going down this, says organizer Roger Naber.

“It ain’t happening,” Naber says. “Nobody could pull it together, so we’re going to postpone it until next year. I don’t have time to do it this year. There’s too many other things going on in my life.”

Two years ago Naber described the TGDBD in my column in the the Kansas City Star.

It’s probably a good thing. The Mexicans have pretty much taken control of that part of KCK. An influx of too many black folks could result in some violence.
