ollie is 100% kansas city. Just like the rest of
the crap in kcmo, the oneil center will go
bad. The city of kcmo needs a major shot in the
arm….it probably can’t wait til the next
election but kc is down and hurting. Maybe it’s
time to let it barely survive and let joco and
wyco become the real center of the city.
    Go ollie!

    Ollie for Mayor!
    Good business man.
If he can convince Kansas Citians to pay $4 for french fries imagine what he could do for P&L

Well he’s right about one thing, it is better to have two major league teams then just one or none..they will both get better…they can’t get worse so he makes a good point…downtown, well I don’t see it ever getting 70,000 people but who knows maybe in 50 or l00 years, maybe…Ollie is a cool guy for 77, like my Dad, Stan, they don’t make’em much like that now…

They never give the right change back at his restaurants. “Hi, may I clip you?”

If people didn’t piss away money on the Chiefs and Royals they could spend more money on BBQ and at the PL. Both teams leaving would have a positive impact on the local economy especially businesses in travel, leisure and hospitality.. Omaha and Des Moines are doing quite well without any professional sports franchises. It’s a bullshit line that you can’t be a first class city without professional sports. The money Jackson County pissed away on the stadium reno’s could have paid for a big chunk of a high speed rail line between KC and St. Louis. Imagine being able to make the trip in an hour. We go there, they come here. Tourists and convention folks in both cities make the trip to either end. That idea is more of a winner than the Chiefs and Royals will ever be.

    “oversaturated” is redundant.

to me, Gates has gone down hill quite a bit in the last 10 years. At least half the time, I get fatty meat or shortchanged. There’s lots better bbq in KC now, especially at 17th and Brooklyn.

HEY SMARTMAN. Did u or anyone else hear the story of how the red camera’s that have been installed may actually end up costing the city money. It was on KMBC news. Basically people are disputing tickets which in turn is causing the police to work overtime to find the film, review it, etc. Plus not as many people are going through red lights as they thought. Another f-up by KC.

Rick, Heard from a friend of mine who works for “the man” that the red light camera system has some “glitches”. It is causing a backlog of work and some folks will pay the $200.00 or more to have an attorney fight the ticket as a matter of principle or to avoid the points. Once again the big winners in stupidity at City Hall are the lawyers.

Ollie gets it. Let Kansas City be Kansas City.
The Plaza and Wesport rival ANY city our size in character, history, and the “fun” quotient.
It seems like we have forgotten that.
In the past 20 years I have spent plenty of money on beer at Stanford’s, Kelly’s, The Quaff, The Peanut, The Falloon, and 75th Street.
The last thing I need is some twerpy punk bouncer with white sunglasses at “McFadden’s” treating me like a second class citizen.
If I want to spend $17 on Fish and Chips at an “authentic” Irish Bar– I will go to P&L.
If I want to have some fun, and impress out of town guests— Wesport, Plaza, Brookside, Waldo, all the way.

Johnny Utah….10-4 on the fat meat at Gates. I agree the quality has fallen off. Used to hit Midtown or KCK once a week. No mas. Last couple of slabs I got had less meat on ’em than Amy Winehouse. There is no shortage of good BBQ in the metro and the strong will survive. It would be nice if they changed “Hi may I help you” to “Whatchu want beeyotch”
