I knew Dale pretty well in Westport, he hung out alot at Stanfords, we had the dance club at that time and it was crazy busy for years…all during the early to late 90’s…it was the evening home of that Chiefs Team…so I saw the behavior at point blank for years…Dale ranks near the top on poor behavior, throwing drinks on waitress staff, peeing in the sink, not the toilet and so on…he and and I spoke about it on more than one occasion..he always promised to be good than something would happen, he was even barred for a time and then we let him come back, but I once said to him ” Dale, you got it all, talent, big pay check, fans, girls, good looks, why the hateful attitude?” He would just shrug..I don’t think he knew…by the way he was not the only one who acted like that on the team..on the other hand Neil Smith was in weekly never a problem, would watch out to make sure his players behaved, kept a close eye on his best friend Derrick…he stopped more than one brawl for us…great guy…

That team had so much talent, at least two super bowls in them..and we got zero, yeah its sad, still…and without question Dale Carter had as much or more talent than anyone in the league..remember he even caught passes..they were a talented yet unhappy bunch…strange times..and yet young players today act just like they did…hey I should know we all look back at the chances we had in our youth that we blew…and we blamed others instead of ourselves…some turn to God, some to another profession, some to family…in the end if you want help…look to your own hand..its within us.

I’m glad Dale has found some peace, sounds like it….maybe some of the other guys have too…it comes with age..and then sometimes it never comes

WOW!!! OK I mention it when 610 gets a scoop. So therefore its obvious 810 got a big get. I wonder how many of those that slammed the 610 scoop of Carl saying he was a failed GM will talk about the has-been Dale. This was a GREAT interview. Have to ask Greg why did he think going to Denver was a big mistake??? Obviously I don’t believe Neil Smith would say the same thing.

Lot to be said for some introspection and redemption. Good luck Dale.

I used to travel to Chiefs away games and would
stay at the same hotel as the chiefs.
This was a renegade group. But it looks like some of them have awaken in later life to realize
that their talents and luck were available for
    a short time.
Derrick was a great athlete. But he was never
satisfied with what he had. The grass was alway
greener on the other side or he needed to
reassert himself in his own mind.
When he had the accidnet he realized how quickly life can change.
Maybe larry johnson and other young athletes
will find that out before their time runs out.

I hope for Carter’s sake he is being truthful to himself and genuine, because I’ve heard this line before from Daryl Strawberry.

    810 scoops 610 once again.

    Glaze,

I missed the interview, so nice recap Greg, keep up the good work.

    oscarfactor:
Let’s hope this isn’t like the Daryl Strawberry situation. With Daryl it was all talk, it looks like DC is backing up his words with action. Time will tell.

Craig don’t take what Greg says to heart. He’s just angling for a walk on role in the movie.

810 is No. 1 for Sports talk. Until 610 beats them it will always be “Again.” Sorry.

No, they didn’t SCOOP 610 again… They scooped them THIS time. Now….if you want to say 810 stomped 610 AGAIN in the ratings!!! Then I would say YES U R RIGHT. But no they haven’t scooped them again.

And my guess is for the foreseeable future (at least next 9 months) 810 will continue to dominate in the ratings.

Still have my old DC jersey hanging in the closet. Maybe it’s time to break it back out this season.

When you become old you become confused. Old Man Kissel I think you got your 8 and 6 confused. Let’s see 610 got the Brett tirade, the Peterson interview, were the first to call for Trey’s job, the other night 41 quoted 610 sources about the signing of the Chiefs #1 draft pick (which is amazing considering Jack harry is affiliated with 810. Yeah pops you go ahead and sit in the corner and believe what you wish. Try not to drool on your shirt. Let us know when you have to go pottie.

Concur Craig had great comments (twice now I’ve said that). Don’t think their is any comparison between Carter and Strawberry as Strawberry was saying things to hang on to a career where D.C. has already moved on. What you hope is that their is no comparison between Dale Carter and Darrell Porter.

In a interesting development, 610 mid-day host Nick Wright maybe out of a job.

According to close sources, Wright was brought into program director Ryan Maguire office Friday afternoon to discuss how he could better change his show.

According to the source Maguire isn’t very happy with Wrights’ ratings of late and thinks that some changes to his program could help.

After a calm discussion, things started getting a little heated. After a few minutes people close to Maguires office heard shouting. One source said Wright told Maguire, “I’ll do the show that I want to do. You can kiss my ass!”

After a few minutes of shouting nearby employees came into the room to separate the two. While leaving a source heard Wright say, “That guy can suck my dick.”

It will be interesting to see if Wright comes back on Monday morning or if he’ll be fired.

    Developing……

assuming that is all true that is interesting. I think old man kiss 810’s as would be a great replacement.

Great interview with Dale Carter – unfortunately most of us only see our mistakes of our youth in retrospect, when it is too late to correct them. It was obvious that Carter feels this way. He seemed sincere about his work with young people and his faith. It would be hard to come up with a better CB tandem at both coverage and playing the run (Carter was great against the run and NEVER averted taking a big hit and dishing them out) than Carter and James Hasty.

It drives me crazy people say Lin Elliot lost that game. If you believe that then you don’t understand football.
