Don’t Look Now; the Elvis Parade is Back!

August 16th doesn’t mean much to those of you who believe The King is still alive...

Naturally, we’re talking about Elvis Aaron Presley. Anybody remember Kansas City physician Dr. Donald Hinton’s book a handful of years back in which he claimed to be treating the big E?

And what about those KY 102 and 99.7 KY Elvis Parades downtown? This will be – what? – the second straight year without one of those. KUDL FM afternoon host Tanna Guthrie fought hard to keep the parade alive but in the end, it just didn’t appear to be a good fit for her new soft rock signal.

That was then…

The latest: Easy Ed Porras of Raymore, Missouri has re-birthed the Elvis Parade, albeit on a far smaller scale.

“Welcome to the 1st annual Allison’s Elvis Parade,” read formal invitations announcing the event. “The parade will start at 11 am at the Morningview clubhouse at 706 Sunrise Drive in Raymore and it will wind through the subdivision. After the parade please join us for music – Elvis, of course – and some hot dogs (as opposed to hound dogs) and Peanut Butter and Nanner sandwiches.”

The skinny on the spectacle?

“My little girl Allison, I used to take her down to the KY Elvis parade and she misses that,” Porras says. “So we’re just going to go out there and do the parade in Raymore through the Morningview Retirement Community – that way we don’t have to get permits. We’re going to have eight or ten cars and floats and the fire department is sending a truck. So it’ll start at 11 am and probably be over by 3 pm.”

Porras by the way owns

wow…..You have to admire one person’s resolve and creativity. You also have to wonder how much the Star is missing this kind of reporting.

Why in the hell isn”t anyone planning a Michael Jackson parade? KC can lead the way on that. AEG can probably get Latoya or Blanket to be the Grand Marshall. Have a big concert at the SC with the remaining Jacksons. Maybe they can schedule it during the Plastic Surgeons Convention. Where’s Jon Stephens when you need him? Talk about tourism!

Dexter VERY FUNNY!!! Smartman good stuff but also sad in that some of that is not far from the truth. Latoya will do almost anything if the money is right. She would be the grand marshal for the Elvis parade and give a free concert if you have the $$$$. what is also sad….:( I would pay to see Jacksons in concert. HUGE Jermaine Jackson fan color me crazy.

I wonder how much the city of Raymore is paying to send a fire truck to hang out at a neighborhood BBQ?

Hold it right there, Burr Man ( or is it Burman?), may I suggest you check Elvis official site for the correct spelling of Aaron. Hint: it’s not Aron. Although Wikipedia says it sometimes is spelled that way.
    Translation: Elvis goes both ways

About the he same amount they pay the firefighters to sit and watch porn all day in the fire house.
