I covered a George Jones concert in 1982 which he could barely get through — and the first half hour was the Jones Boys opening. The Possum sang barely 45 minutes, and it wasn’t pretty. Then it was booze, now age.
And, sorry Craig, I’ve interviewed George a couple of times and he was among the most obnoxious celebrities I’ve met — drunk or sober.

Reminds me of ole blue eyes Frank S during his final days. Not able to remember the words to his own music. Not a country and western fan, though Taylor Swift is adorable. But my mom loves George Jones. Just sad.

Sounds like the same set from the MO state fair 3 years ago. He had a lot of trouble then too.

Ha i was at that George Jones concert. Dont be dissen the Possum. He sounded good to me. And i was also sitting up high and there were no floor moniters or screens those were speakers you jurk. I think his hole band looked and sounded excellent. Brittney Allen really complemented him up there. He is an old man what do you expect from someone whos been singin non stop for these long years. I was very impressed on how many songs he got through. And as far as him not havin fun i think you were at the wrong show. He had a lot of spunk and jokes gallore. Maby next time you should sit down and actully watch the concert and listen instead of thinking what you are going to right that people are going to read and get red hot about the next day. Don’t ever diss the George Jones legend.
