Burger Week: Will Westport Flea Market Flee Westport?

As mysteries go, this one ranks right up there…

A – for the lack of a better term – spy photo of a cheeseburger on wheels, bearing the distinctive Monopoly board-like Westport Flea Market logo raises any number of questions as to the who, what, where, when and/or why of it.

Does Flea owner Joe Zwillenberg plan to take his “best burger in KC” show on the road? Is the venerable Flea moving to a new location? Did somebody in the art department have one Jagerbomb too many at the Flea’s Rehab Sunday?

Let’s try and sort it out...

With the Country Club Plaza’s somewhat controversial McDonald’s restaurant poised to leave could it be the Flea will be moving on up?

Nope, Zwillenberg says.

“We are delivering and catering though,” Zwillenberg says. “We even did a catered event for 100 people at the zoo recently.”

Could it be the Z Man is planning on taking a road trip in, a-la the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile?

“This isn’t something we’re planning on driving,” Zwillenberg says laughing. “But I’ve been known to do crazy things before.”

Another possibility: “It might be our new logo.”

You know the drill: stay tuned…

If McDonald’s leaves the Plaza, then the terrorists have won. Abe Lincoln’s tears are dripping onto his Big Mac.
