kk has a holier than thou attitude. Wait til
news comes out about him. He knows nothing
    about baseball…football or any sports.

If I were a bettin’ man, I’d say that ol’ Jack Harry would certainly have given Tom Watson a pass. That

Greg, I hate to be this guy, but your “The Kougar” moniker is really f’ing stupid. Please stop. Aside from that, I just found you/this site and am pleasantly surprised to see you writing again… so not all is bad. Keep it going.

When doing “spot” interviews, what you get is what you use. I’ve been a reporter close to 40 years, and the only time I’ve allowed a mulligan with a high-profile personality or public official is when a taped interview underwent glitches (people interrupting, outside noise, equipment malfunctions, etc.). While I don’t want to make someone look bad, there’s not much I can if they insist on doing so.

George Brett has been a celebrity in Kansas City for too long for him not to know that what he said wouldn’t be aired, and his musing on KKs show that he — and I paraphrase what I heard — might have thought Jack Harry wouldn’t use it or cut him some slack is simply preposterous.

BTW I’ve met GB on a couple of occasions, in informal settings (once with his sons at The K), and he was most pleasant. So my hard criticism of him is not personal, but simply my journalistic perspective. I’ve always found that letting personal opinions inject themselves into editorial decisions, whether favorable or not, can only interfere with the process of reporting.

    HoneyBaked,
Glad you found me and just for you, I will suspend Kougar usage for the rest of the month. But I think Sam Mellinger’s name for The K may be off and running. Please tell some people where to find me — we’re starting to get some serious hits on this site, and the more hits the better the site.

It sounds to me like GB is not simply taking responsibility for his own actions. He was asked a simple question, then went off on a cussing rant. He’s a seasoned pro on the field and off when dealing with the media. He needs to stop trying to divert attention off of him by placing the blame on someone else… it’s not that difficult.

George Brett working a charity for ALS. WHAT THE Z*&^%* does he know about ALS. Believe me George Brett, Steve Bono, and Elvis Garbec have never had ALS. You know why? You know why? Because only 30,000 people are qualified to have ALS. No one has ever said these guys have ALS have they? Why? Because they don’t know what they are talking about. Unless you have ALS you aren’t qualified to speak of it.

I loved how on 810 George spoke how the fans and media should get behind the Royals. He might as well have said he just believes in homers and not the baseball kind. Their is a difference between loyalty and blind loyalty. If Gorge really wants to show his support for the Royals maybe he can worked security on the playground, that’s apparently where they need help not in defending Trey’s back.

And Gorge is based on him eating Jack Harry up.

What I don’t get is why is the media giving this guy a pass?

When I first saw the clip the first thing that came into my mind was he’s drunk. But no one is asking him that.

Kind of kills the Pro Brett argument that Harry and others in the media are out to get him if you ask me.

I find it especially telling that one of the first things that Hillman asked Brett was if alcohol was involved. THAT was very pointed on the newscast imo.

GB is NOT a god. He may be a great ball player but that doesn’t make him always right or a good person. How many people do you know that are great at their jobs yet are complete jerks? Enter GB.

The second I saw the interview, I thought Joe Namath/Suzie Kolber. My biggest concern was that there’d be an announcement that he’s going into rehab this weekend. THAT would KILL this city. I sure hope it’s found out that he just pops off, but anytime I’VE gotten off the golf course at 3 in the afternoon, I’ve had the plus side of a 6-pack in me… Brett golfs ALL the time. Dunno… just my initial reaction.

Couple that with his really strange story about him taking a crap all over his drawers in Vegas and he really is one of the YouTube all-stars in the making…

Just not looking forward to seeing that star fall… But bracing for impact nonetheless.

But here’s my point, Brett in his I’m sorry tour Tuesday wanted to make it out that people in the media, mostly Harry had it in for him. That’s why they kept showing the clips of his rant over and over again.

If they did have it in for him then why didn’t Harry, KK, Petro, Twibell or the two D-Bags on 610 ask the important question.

WAS GB DRUNK DURING THE RANT?

GB is trying to make the media the bad guy. But the media is still covering for the guy.

Greg: I’m sure you realize that the majority of the traffic coming to this site is because of you. I don’t know if you’ll ever get paid what you’re worth for your contributions but your insight and passion are MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks!
