Warfield needs to be put down….what was he a horse? This might explain why your order got messed up if you went to Neil’s restaurant. Is it still around? No matter what I am still happy that Neil got something Tony is after…a ring.

    Greg,

Thanks for running this. I fondly remember the Neilbonics columns from your days at the Landmark and this is a great blast from that past. One thing I wondered then and still wonder to this day: Did you ever communicate with Neil Smith (or anyone associated with his body of work on Channel 5) about this? Did Neil ever threaten to “strangulate” you if he saw you in a dark alley? Did anyone from KCTV call you and try to get you to ease up on the poor millionaire, investor and football analyst? Did you ever hear from anyone at the Chiefs (like maybe Mike Magloski himself) about it? Anything?

As I recall, you were appropriately merciless with Neil and it always seems to me that when a media critic is accurate, the media outlets tend to get very defensive and try and shut up the critic in any way possible.

GREAT. Lets bring up all the old crap in this
web site. Lets try to make someone else look
funny. Lets try to see who we can make look
    stupid.
Neil was one of the best Chiefs ever. He came
up with almost nothing. Made it thru college
    then won 2 superbowl rings.
Of course maybe he couldn’t speakas well as
frank white…or the rest of the other
well spoken tv guys. Maybe he wasn’t as
articulate as all those other “great”sports
announcers we have here in town who couldn;’t
get a job in any other major market.
Neil was always there to help any charity.
Always there to sign the jerseys and take
time to work with the kids.
Even with some speech and reading problems
he still has had one hell of a career and there
is no bigger heart in kc.

Ahhh, very refreshing to read Neilbonics once again! Boby said it right that Neil wasn’t as articulate as all those other great sports announcers…massive understatement. No one is questioning Neil’s heart or charitable contributions, just his speech. Since Neil owns the Brigade, maybe he could announce some of their games…that’s the only way I’d watch
