Hopefully this helps 610 improve their shows and give us a real option to KK’s meltdowns and twisted logic.

Greg: Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning! Brilliant! Keep on breakin’ KK’s balls. It took a long time to get Fortunato and Peterson out of town. I keep prayin for KK to go, along with Whitlock, Posnanski and Fannin. You think it’s any coincidence with that Peterson last name….Scott…Drew…Carl? I’m just sayin. Please post again soon. Your column is like crack for my sports jones. But please no more Holly Starr.

    There went my breakfast…

Thanks for NOT putting that item first in your column. Nice work.

Beautiful! My all time favorite Keitzbonic is “NASCARS”. Whenever KK would talk about stock car racing instead of referring to the cars based on the series they were racing in…Cup Cars…Busch Cars, they were all NASCARS!

Beautiful! NASCARS..is my favorite Keitzbonic. Whenever Kevin talks about stock car racing, or used to…I don’t listen to him anymore…all stock cars were NASCARS…not Cup Cars or Busch Cars….NASCARS!!!!

And the day that Dale Sr. died…Grunny was at the Daytona 500 and KK interviewed him and treated Grunny like he was Richard Petty. I still think that grunny thinks “cfm” means Chiefs feed me.

KK is so full of it. He sucks and he is just trying to start things to get ratings for his station. I use to listen to him and realized that all he did was turn everyones words around. Kansas City would be better without him.

Style and ego aside, the thing that disturbs me the most about KK is that he wobbles in and out of entertainment, editorial, reporting, opinion and gossip with no discernible demarcation. Listeners think they

Did a little checking on dictionary.com and discovered the following: when you click the Thesaurus option for “prima donna” the first synonym that comes up is “diva”

And the barbecue shows he’s been doing? Great radio. Nothing beats a cooking segment you can’t taste, smell or see.

Just another excuse to bring someone in to feed the host. You’d think Whitlock was still there.

    Renton,
You’re right and you’re wrong. You’re right that it’s terrible radio. But you’re wrong in the motive. Jim Cotti pays big money to have KK do his hour infomertial. That’s the ONLY reason they subject us to that crap. 810 is hurtin’ for cash, folks. The Royals contract, the Planet fiasco, and Jerry Green’s passing has 810 as cash-strapped as me after my wife goes to Zona Rosa.

KK is the new “Don Fortune”. If KK were able to look at himself doing his show he would see exactly what he railed against in his early days. He has become what he hated.

Did you hear the Will and Trust Center blantant advertisement in his show which was mixed into his personal life? He went on about how nice he was and how he wanted to give money to someone all to promote the Will and Trust Center. Can we have sports during sports time and commercials during commercial time and not intersect them.

His show is a situation comedy about himself yet he doesn’t realize it.

Geez, a lot of Kietz bashing on here. Comparing him to Don Fortune is stupid. Do you people even remember how pathetic Don Fortune was on the radio? If it weren’t for Kietzman, none of you would be reading a blog like this and there might not be a real sports station in this town. I agree he has a lot of faults and it’s fun to make fun of him, but he’s still the best sports talk host in this town. By far.

Greg, I think you should bust out one of your famous Neilbonics columns this weekend.

Olathecat—The “Don Fortune” reference is being on top and having everyone get tired of your act. Don Fortune ruled sports radio in this town for quite awhile and it was Kietzman and Whitlock who took him down.

KK has a target on his back just like Fortune did and his act is getting old. Why doesn’t Kietzman do a Gonzalez interview? Gonzalez wouldn’t probably even come on his show because of KK’s reputation. KK is now relegated to having to comment on other shows beccause no one wants to talk to him.

Yeah, but that “what can Brenner (sp?) get for free” segment is riveting!!!

I almost fell asleep mowing my lawn. If I didn’t have an analog radio that’s really touchy, I would have turned the dial. But it’s a pain in the ass to get my radio to tune back — guess I should spend the $10 a get a new radio. 🙂

This has nothing to do with any of this. But so sad that Wayman Tisdale has passed a way. On the other end of the spectrum Jamal Tinsley is being sued by an equipment manager because when his limo was shot up he was stuck in the backseat which the controls to the doors were in the front seat. The driver and Tinsley took off leaving the guy to take the bullets. I love Big 8 and Big 12 basketball. But two stars on different sides of the road. I lost all respect for KK years ago when he blasted Owen Hart after he died at Kemper. Low class low rent guy.

I used to be on with Kevin and Petro a ton in the 90’s and into the early 2000’s, I can say this about them both…they have become much more interesting the last few years…it would be boring without them…they are entitled to their opinions…not always right, but surely not always wrong…Nice to have two sports radio stations to choose from…so no it would not be a better place without them…how many more name media guys do we need to lose. As for Tony, he had to suffer with a truly poorly run organization for many years…A team that gave away two nearly sure SuperBowls, in l995 firing Nick Lowery and going with Elliot..cost you one SuperBowl and in l997 benching MVP quarterback Rich Gannon for Elvis…cost us the other…Tony had to suffer through that and to his credit played his best ball the last two years on one of the alltime worst NFL teams…its time to let him go…he has earned it….He has been a good guy and will be missed…I like Atlanta’s chances to win the NFC with the addition of Tony…all the best to him

kk loves those women in the back seat of cars
in mission hills giving him a hummer.
His wife didnt like it and sent him packing…
was a good hummer worth all that money.
    I hope so

What I find funny is all of the KK bashing on here.

It’s funny because since over taking Don Fortune KK has done nothing but WIN against his rivals.

Entercom and other stations have tried to kill KK and 810 but all have failed.

    1250…Failed
    Fortune and Petro…Failed
    Fortune and Rose…Failed
    Fortune and Petro again…Failed
    Petro…Failed
    1340…Failed
    Whitlock and Maas…Failed
    Whitlock…Failed
    Neil and Marty…Failed
    Neil…Failed
    Chris and Cowboy…Failing

Fortune never had any real competition. When he did, he couldn’t handle it and the rest is history.

KK on the other hand has BEAT ALL competition he has come across.

KK is the champ of KC Sports Talk, deal with it.

Hipity Hop I guess where I see the difference is between popularity and quality. So if you are pointing out that KK was/is more popular then all those others and had higher rating then I concur. But popularity doesn’t equal quality. We can look at any arena you want and I can point out someone popular but that doesn’t represent quality. The Lakers and Cowboys get the highest ratings when on TV but they haven’t won a championship. The movie Transformers will draw huge crowds but won’t win any best picture of the year awards. The New Kids On The Block hold many record selling and concert attending records but no one considers them the greatest band that ever lived. When you think of quality do you say Miley Cyrus? But yet she draws TONS of people. Most critics think the TV show St. Elsewhere was one of the all time best shows ever but it didn’t draw the ratings of say Who’s The Boss. So don’t confuse popularity with quality. Their are several different measuring sticks when it comes KK. Popularity and ratings are just a few. Also this is a country that elected Nixon, Bush, and Clinton twice. They were the popular winners. But does that mean they will go down as great presidents?

810 isn’t hurting for cash. KK is the main event in what ends up a lucrative lineup of Sports Talk. What’s most annoying while listening is that there are probably 20 mins of commercials per hour, but KK will tell you, it’s only 3 times an hour. True. After the first 20 mins. of the hour, you might as well switch stations, as the commercials get ad-nauseum after half-past. No 810 is not hurting for cash. But even more annoying are the infomercials paraded as content, the grilling segment, the Jim Colbert segment paraded as not as an ad for The Cookie Diet. I like Danny Quinksdale and his analysis of Royals, etc., but NO. 810 is not hurting for money. They’ve turned sports talk into almost constant promotional support for advertisers, disguised as content.

Nothing gets me to turn off my radio faster than seeing the clock strike 2pm on a weekday. I can hear better sports talk while eavesdropping on conversations at a local bar.

Funny to read that caller’s comment about KK kissing Chief ass these days. It’s like the brown-noser we all know at work who sits up straight and turns into Eddie Haskell every time the boss walks in the room.
