    Greg,

First of all, I am glad to see you back. I only learned about this yesterday. Don’t blame me for taking so long, at least I figured it out and bookmarked you.

Second, as always, I agree with you about as much as I disagree with you. I think, and have always thought, that you are too hard on Posnanski, but I am grateful to see you express your opinions once again. For starters, I like his writing and his columns. Yes, sometimes he is a bit maudlin but I like the way the guy strings words together. My wife, who pretty much hates sports, makes me read his columns to her on Sundays, so I am grateful that there is a sportwsriter who is a good enough WRITER to make my wife care just the teeniest bit about sports.

And about his Mac purchases: That’s really a lame attack. I’m sure you have heard this, but Posnanski doesn’t only write for the Star. He also blogs, writes books (which presumably come with book advances) and he writes for Sports Illustrated. A guy might be able to string together a decent income with that many gigs. You don’t have to like it (or him) or read any of his stuff, but it’s really weak to bitch about him making a good enough living that he can afford two expensive computers, both of which he will probably use. Is the guy responsible to NOT buy computers he plans to use simply because newspapers are floundering? And who are you to tell a man how to spend his money?

Please note, by the way, that I am NOT using Posnanski’s popularity as a reason that YOU should like his writing. You don’t like him? That’s cool. Sometimes I don’t like what you say, but I keep reading you and always will, no matter how hard I have to dig to find the latest iteration of your column. But come on, leave the guy’s personal spending habits alone unless there is a real story there, please?

Why does a guy in the media get a free pass on his spending habits when we’d have no problem ripping LJ for cruising in his Maybach? JoPo is big enough to take it. BTW, I loved JoPo’s blog on the Springsteen concert. He just doesn’t do it for me in the sports section. But then, I

Greg, Dead on right about JOPO. He is to sports writing…as opposed to “journalism” what Ryan Seacrest is to “entertainment”. He’s just plain awful and his popularity in KC, as well as BIG SEXY’S is an indictment of the lack of sports knowledge in the area.

I love it that you hate Katie Horner almost as much as I do. Almost.

Thanks for writing what I feel about JoePo. The guy is so touchy feely that he misses the real story half the time. As a Mizzou fan, was I pissed that Zaire Taylor kept getting his shots packed? Hell yes. But did that fact mean that I felt we couldn’t win the game (or did that mean that the Tigers thought they couldn’t win the game)? Hell no.

Joe needs to quit reading his own press clippings.
